Aside from Nietzsche and, to a lessor extent, Hume, has there been a single good critique of Christianity since the Greeks?

How do I get into leftist philosophy? What stuff should I read before getting into it? Are there some Greeks that I should look into like Plato and Epicurus? Are there some philophers that are usually important but are not really necessary for the leftist philosophy experience? I'm interested in all of philosophy but at the moment I'm intrigued by some leftist thoughts which I would like to know more about asap.

Would you guys be interested in a sin reading club? We focus on books that will help us overcome certain sins, and we discuss which of the seven deadly sins we're most plagued by, and offer help to each other in advice and so on, and pray together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcL9S5a3weU

Been reading the selected works of Descartes At first glance, his philosophy of mind seems outdated and laughable (tips fedora) But I am being convinced (or convincing myself) that there is a kernel of truth to his idea He says we can conceive of body and mind separately, so they are therefore separate (not really a great argument) but isnt he right? As a mind, I have am experiencing reality. Science has taught us that matter can organize itself into complex systems that produce thought etc etc. But isnt looking at the physical medium of a mind completely different than actually being that mind? Imagine if star trek is real and we could transport people (replicate every atom of a person in a new location and destroy the previous person) The new person wouldn't know hes a new person since he has all the memories of the previous person, but hes a new being is he not? I dont wanna write a bunch of shit unless people respond so, need some friendly banter to get me thinking

So /lit/ I'm currently in a summer program at Cornell University. What is here to do as a Pynchon fan? Is there any legacy celebrated here at Cornell? https://olinuris.library.cornell.edu/parallax/Pynchon

/lit/ has an Infinite Jest summer reading book group, and it continues TODAY! (Today is Day 4: pages 49-93) If you have an interest in this book -- whether you have read it or not -- please consider joining us! We will be reading Infinite Jest from June 14th – August 22nd with an average pace of around 15 to 16 pages a day. Discussions will take place right here on /lit/ every weekend, though a thread will probably float around throughout the week. Our first proper discussion will take place between the 20th and 21st of June.
