Games vs books

>"books are too linear, games encourage you to create your own story" >"video games encourage problem solving and critical thinking" >"video games are more social" >"video games make you much smarter" >"literature is a dated form of media" Is it true what they say? That video games are better than books?

Any /lit/erati smoke meth before reading, or experimented with it? What about before writing? I have a pretty serious drug habit but I've only experimented with meth in the last couple of years and only a few times, it definitely doesn't have the bang of crack but when combined with other drugs that taper off the 'edge' of meth you feel like you have placed your heart in the hand of God, absolutely beautiful inside and out (I'll admit though that catching my eye in the mirror will sometimes lead me to hate myself, the paleness, loss of weight, eye dilation, etc.). Just seems like it might be a good idea, I used to use adderall in highschool and started combining it with other drugs in college and had great results with reading/ studying.

So weak... I don't even...

>starts off moderately talented >gains decent recognition >plays with a new style, throwing in a couple of references for added interest >fame soars >becomes lazy >output slowly devolves into nothing but a crude string of references, often very specific to his own culture >newfound fanbase starts to go off him because obviously an international audience isn't going to get half of his references >somehow they come around and he becomes immortalised many years later At what point did the popular consensus about James Joyce change? Pic unrelated

When will /lit/ realise that the reason John Green is popular while no one is interested in your pessimistic, cerebral, artsy left-wing drivel is because they just want to have fun, not have the problems of the world and the human condition thrown at their face? instagram.com/p/5MmRmOjKLs/

History thread. I'm working on something all you wannabe historians might be interested in. Will post it in a little bit. Meanwhile, ask some questions relating to history.

As a Francophone I had never heard of it before starting browsing /lit/. I'm on holidays in America and I bought it, read it in two sittings. It was beautiful, thank you, /lit/.

Do numbers bear significance to you?

It's called Hypospadias, its a pretty common condition where a male has two openings into the uretha. He c*ms and p*sses from both. It's not a big deal and he only sits to pee because he's embarrassed, he shouldn't be - if he stands over the bowl both streams will go into the urinal. The condition is totally harmless, effects several percent of males, is technically a minor birth defect, and should not be worried about by him or by you. It is completely normal. I'm gay, I've known a few guys with Hypospadias and it only bothers them if it bothers someone they like. I personally think its really cool to watch the two streams of urine when they really have to pee. Don't make him feel badly about it - it harms nothing and is just as much (or more) fun for both of you.

Post some bad authors. I mean really bad ones, lolcow material. The delusional ones who think they are the next hot shit although they're fanfic.net tier and everyone makes fun of them. Like Gloria Tesch, “The World’s Youngest Published Novelist” and author of the Maradonia saga. http://conjugalfelicity.com/gloria-tesch/

Is Batman our most important mythological hero? In the long view of humanity will he be more important than Hercules, Odysseus, etc? The Odyssey, Iliad, Beowulf, and others are basically just the cape air of yore anyway
