which feminist books are actually worth reading?

Books for women/female authors

Tips? Something philosophical in nature please. I'm tired of reading flat female characters in male authored books, or bad books by women about trivial matters. I want to feel truly connected with an author/character, I've only ever done that in Simone de Beauvoir's books in the past. I want to be really confronted with what being a woman feels like.

"What the fuck am I doing here" Laslo thought as he finished methodically stirring. Coffee date. All her idea. Laslo slowly looked up from his cup to her face. His hair is jet black but his skin is smooth and snow white--eyes piercing blue. It's no wonder girls liked him for his looks, but he was rather hostile to any that tried to, in vain, attain his friendship. Sara was a nervous wreck. Laslo wasn't talking. He looked up at her expecting her to say something; she fidgeted a little trying to come with something, then Lalso proceeded to almost roll his eyes, take a sip, and proceeded to lay back in his chair. This is what it must have been like when Jane Goodall first tried to establish a relationship with chimps. "So what are you expecting out this?" he asked. She didn't reply. "You saw me, consciously or unconsciously thought how cute our babies would look, and decided with your stupid emotionally driven brain that you'd actually go out of your way to break social protocol and ask me out to coffee?". She was shocked. "Listen, I don't know why I didn't tell you no, but some part of me must have wanted to fuck your stupid brains out, but I'm thinking clearer now". She was horrified. " Find some other guy willing to go along with the consumerist conformist bullshit non-life that you and practically everyone else subscribe to. Eat this world to death, shit out useless babies, I don't give a fuck." She was starting to tear up. "I'm hurting your feelings? hah." She didn't leave. This surprised him. "Alright don't start crying you'll make a scene." Too late. She started to heave her little feminine sobs--she inhaled through her nose a little to catch mucus from seeping out. Laslo tried to remain austere but her absolute humiliation caused her to cover her face with her hands, which then embarrassed him further and softened his blaggard's heart. He got up, directed her upwards from her chair with his arms, instantly caused her to nestle in his embrace. The spasms of her soft crying against his chest further caused him uncomfortable sentimentality. While standing against him, Laslo pulled out his wallet and left a bill on the table and walked her out. He wheeled her around the corner of the cafe and then again into an ally. "What's wrong with you?"

>He also doesn’t read postmodern fiction—the Garfunkel Library contains no Pynchon or Barthelme. “I tried ‘Gravity’s Rainbow,’ and I thought it was fraudulent,” he said. http://www.artgarfunkel.com/library/favorites.html /lit/ BTFO

Elliot's writing style was really good, regardless of the content itself it's clear no one (or very few people) here could write something as good as this. I found only 3 typos in the whole thing. and his grammar is pretty much flawless. http://abclocal.go.com/three/kabc/kabc/My-Twisted-World.pdf

Aside from what he wrote specifically. Do you think his style of writing indicated that he was a person with inner struggles
