So I read his Notes from the Underground, what a depressing life this man must have had. He may be right, but what is the point of over-analyzing everything in your life to the point you get sick of it? I don't like these kind of books nor do I see what they contribute to literature, it is a depressing story about a depressed man with outstanding writing skills used only for letting his negativity out.

Was he autistic? I'm reading this right now, and I don't get why people call Lo a seductress when Hum's the one who acts like a literal autist. Lo's clearly not the bad guy here.

Who are the notable female and/or black and/or trans philosophers? I'm not trying to start a /pol/ thread, I assume there must be some, and I'd like to read them and decide their legitimacy on my own.

Has anyone here translated a book? Is it a useful practice for learning a language? I've been thinking about translating some French novels using my Bescherelle and a french dictionary. Obviously the translation won't be of great quality, but shouldn't improve my vocabulary, and teach me how to better form sentences?

How can individualists and egoists even advocate for individualism, or seek to protect the individual from collective society when it is collective society that invented individuality and is the reason why individuals can exercise any degree of self-determination at all? pic somewhat related.

looking for a word

1 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I'm looking for a word (perhaps out of the terminology of literary theory) meaning "to exhibit characteristics of that which it is describing" or "a harmony between form and subject". As in a sentence about all the things you love about Pynchon's style done in a Pynchonesque style. "Self-reflexivity" falls short and implies more metafictional hijinks.
