Why do people who exist somewhere on the spectrum between normie and genius have these weird dumbass syncretic philosophies and beliefs? >I'm a neo-confucian socialist catholic with tantric >I'm a fascist buddhist who endorses sola fide lutheranism >I'm a feminist gender queer islamist with an existentialist outlook

High school memories.

I remember carrying around a copy of Mediations and reading it when I had finished work. I did the same with The Art of War and the Zen Sourcebook. I can't help but think I looked like an autistic spurd.

Daily reminder that Shakespeare is underrated because even the most effusive and ornamented praise can only ever amount to a grotesque understatement.

What are some exercises to learn to write? Is writing micro fiction a good exercise?

>Main character is depressed, isolated, deeply introverted, possibly autistic, alienated, and is probably a loser. Probably more odd and neurotic than you are. >Find out he still isn't a virgin >Every character in literature has at least fulfilled their instinctive goal as a living creature. >Drop the book and think about suicide. Welp, I finally left Islam and I'm moving towards the Catholic Church (not a final decision, but the probable outcome). What's some good literature to help me through the transition? Current reading wishlist: -Shadow of the Torturer, Gene Wolfe, -Silence, Shusaku Endo -Thee Great Heresies, Hilaire Belloc (to get the Mohammedan angst out of me) -Everything That Rises Must Converge, Flannery O'Connor -Whose Justice? Which Rationality?, Alasdair MacIntyre

Could you recommend some books on wageslavery, or on workplace ideology in general? I've read The Soul at Work quite recently, and also The Burnout Society. Anything on the guilt associated with modern office work and the pressure to work long hours and sacrifice yourself for the sake of productivity.

I've been reminicing on our past work and I've been thinking; when should we write a book again? I think that in a couple or a few months, the time will be ripe for us to start a new book without the clutter of reddit.

So I just read this in the last couple of days, and I have to say that it really surprised me. I hadn't read anything by Capote before (ESL, please understand it's a bit outside my normal canon), and I didn't expect much - but shit, this man has a way with empathy. I don't think I've read many books capable of generating this degree of personal entanglement with the destinies of all involved (which, I'll specify, wasn't due to it being a true story). Knowing the Clutters were about to die, reading the first part, tore my heart. The writing, too, was a bit of a nice find - I'm generally not a fan of this kind of slyly realistic prose, but a few passages (the "annihilating sky", I will never look at the horizon in the same way) embodied the same crude, rustly cutting poetry you can see in the better neorealistic films of Italy, China and South America. Anyone would care to recc me other similar books? Reportages, true accounts written with a peculiar, "literary" style. I'd put HST in the same category, maybe a few other names (Manganelli, Enzensberger). Preferrably in English, I find it to be the best language for this kind of writing.

Why haven't you read this book yet? Definitely made me think, personally. It's a good book.
