Hey /lit/ I have to find a good children's book and make a paper based on it. Any good reads? I would prefer something that gives a moral to it 1-5th grades plz. Instructions: This assignment invites you to reflect on what you have read, to arrive to some original insight or observation about something in your life, childhood, or in general that stems from what you have read, and then to write a paper in which you use your reading as the point of departure for your own ideas. tl;dr What's your favorite childhood book that taught you a lesson?[When you were in grade 1-5]

Would /lit/ give me some feedback on my script idea? I've gotten pretty far into it and was curious of what you guys thought of the story >Earth has become tattered and unlivable due to overpopulation/pollution >Find a planet much like ours >10 year trip >7 of the utmost brilliant scientists/engineers/shit like that >Some of them start going insane due to the monotony of the trip/cabin fever >Start becoming violent/killing each other >Protagonist makes it to the planet from the escape hatch >Lands there >Coexsits with the aliens, they treat him like a god

What parts of the bible are worth reading? By what I know and what I have been told, some parts of the bible are really worth reading for its philosophical content, where certain attitudes and characteristics have just been attached to religious figures. While some parts of the bible are just religious gibberish for real (wasn't it something along the lines with the new and the old testament being either good or bad?)

I started writing a poem for my significant other and I kind of hate it. Should I give it to her anyway? She'll like it no matter what because she has shitty taste, but I know it's a bad poem and I'm not proud of it at all. I'm not sure what to do. I'd like to give her something personal that I actually made/wrote, but I doubt that I'll be able to write anything good by tomorrow afternoon.

My love it is a black rose Held out to you by hand of fate And as this dark romance grows It's not from the sun, but the starlight that's so far away Above the Devil's garden The fertile soil of poisoned hearts Fed by tears and nighttime rain Under Transylvanian moon Grows a flower of death and pain Death is pure-life is not So ask yourself, what do you want? As for me, well I want you So pick the black rose, let its thorns cut you Is this poetry /lit/

An artist comes to you with the idea of painting a contemporary School of Athens based on your input. Where would to location be? Who would be the central figures? Who would be fit to replace Socrates? Diogenes? Heraclitus? Epicurus? Pythagoras? etc.

The Enormous Room by E. E. Cummings It's not a book of poetry, but a memoir of Cumming's time spent in a French prison during WWI. I find it endearing as Cummings seems to have a way with words. I'm surprised I don't hear of this more often (though I suppose my opinion is likely wrong). What are your thoughts, /lit/?

hey /lit/ see what you think of this poem i wrote for english class. My Drug of Choice Just as important as the oxygen I breathe, And as important as the water I drink, Constantly needed of my ears to please, It is much more important than most would think, The only way to sate me to keep me at ease. Like a heroin addict with his contraband shiv, Stimulating my auditory high, My addiction, my necessity to live, Drug-addled mind with a constant supply, Shoot up the notes and each high I relive. No moment of an ear deprived of euphony, I inject my phones and I zone-out, Speaker blasts used to keep the youth in me, Euphoric songs leaving me with no alone doubt, Roll and smoke my tunes, no rehab will be soothing me. picture unrelated

Is Martin Heidegger a readable author? I'm a comp-sci major and I have read just some introductory books to philosophy and I would like to read some of his books, just for entertaining purposes, so how hard are their books? unreadable as fuck like nietzsche and kant? If you could recommend me some of his work it would be appreciated. Thanks

hey guys, looking for some critique on this one, thanks y'all: Awe, Here it Goze (or, CALIFORNIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA) “I nose it’s only wok and california roll, but I like it,” she said to me as she took a bite out of her California Roll (C). Meanwhile, I was on a California-Roll of my own, as I bit into my Tostinos california pizza rolls. “Hm, interesting,” I said, “I will have to try one of your full size california rolls sometime— I’ve only had the bite-size knock off california rolls.” I was at the low end of the california roll today; things were looking as grim as a week-old california roll. I california rolled out of bed this morning only to find out i was late for work— at the california roll factory (LLC). I california rolled out of the driveway while munching on a california roll for a quick breakfast— nothing quite satiates my deep-seated hunger like a fresh, cool california rolll. But apparently, I’d been living a lie— all those california rolls I’d been having were actually the tostinos frozen california pizza rolls— that explained the food poisoning caused by the california rolls, which were not actually california rolls, but california pizza rolls. “You know,” she said, “those aren’t acutally called california pizza rolls. They’re just pizza rolls. California rolls are made only in california, and california rolls do not contain pizza, so california pizza rolls are not actually california rolls, but rather simply pizza rolls that claim to be california rolls, simply pale imitations of the actual california rolls. Again, I must reiterate—- those are NOT california rolls.” I cried into my california roll— Or, should I say, my mere roll, not from california, but rather, from my freezer. My freezer— of solitude. -FIN-

So, I was reading a contemporary piece of fiction, when I realized a strange misuse of the comma: "She said that if it was up to her she would've done it." I mean, it's pretty obvious that this is missing a comma. Is this misuse just an indication of a linguistic/grammatical paradigm shift in English, or is it just a typo?
