I am finding very hard to put my finger on hipsterism. O.k., it is a subculture formed by middle class urbanites. Check. But is there anything palpable, culturally speaking, beyond indie music, a certain fashion sensibility, liberal attitudes, washed down agnosticism, and some foggy pinch for alternative stuff in freakish media? If that is it, it is profoundly unauthentic, mind you.
Is there ANY literary line drawn from hipsterism? Any vague reference to a particular genre or author?

Not sure where else to come to with this but...
Ok so here's the deal. My grandparents awhile back came into possession of a large piece of paper, an old style made of hemp or some old shit like that. What my grandmother told me was it was a piece of song written by a Monk of sorts during the Dark Ages.
Essentially, it may potenially be a lost piece of information or some shit that monks recovered during the Dark Ages. Now, you may question it and have every right to, however my grandparents and their parents before them were very rich and in a very shady crowd. They have old items all around the house so it leads me to believe them. My question is, if it is in fact what my grandmother says it is, what would be the price on such a thing? Is it valuable? Or trash? Maybe priceless? If you guys can give me any information or direct me to somewhere I can find more information about this, please do.
