I've always been a slow reader. When I was in elementary school I was put in a remedial reading class because I was so bad. Eventually I grew out of that and moved up to regular classes, but I was still pretty shit. Whenever the teacher would tell us to read something silently to ourselves in class, I would never be finished by the time she asked if everyone was done. Throughout elementary and even some of middle school my mom would help out a lot by reading the books to me while I closed my eyes and listened, it was easier for me that way, but I guess it ended up hurting me in the long run because now, in 12th grade, I am really struggling. I've taken some tests online and apparently I can only read like 175~ wpm, which is downs tier. I don't have any problems with comprehension, I'm just damn slow.
Does /lit/ have any advice for speed reading?

Jack Vance died on Sunday. The man was a titan, one of the best science fiction and fantasy writers ever. He made it to 96 years old, so he had a hell of a life, and obviously he wrote a lot of books, but it's still pretty sad for me. He's such an entertaining writer. Let's talk about our favorite Jack Vance books or just Jack Vance generally, in the wake of his passing.
RIP Mr. Vance.
