What are some good books by Russian authors? I could google it but I wanted to hear some opinions from people on here. Would 'Brothers Karamazov' or 'One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich' be a better book to start with?

Language Thread

Hey /lit/ This thread is for all those who are learning/ interested in learning another language. Unfortunately, it will inherently serve as a stark divide between those who only know English and those who know other languages besides English. I will be attending the Sprachlehrinstitut and I need a kind soul other than my tutor (who I have to pay) to help me with my German. If there're any German speaking people who can help, please get at me. If you want to learn a language, announce so. If you know a foreign language (not Eng) announce so.

Hey /lit/ thought I'd make a nice casual thread instead of the usual 2deep4u threads Anyway I read this novel a long time ago and I enjoyed it, I've never seen the movie so I don't know how faithful it was My question is that if the monster did indeed meet its end then why does references to IT still kicking appear in lots of his other works. >Also General Stephen king thread

Why doesn't /lit/ talk about Gabriel García Márquez? I find his work very satisfying. He also had a knack for titling books. >Love in the Time of Cholera >Autumn of the Patriarch >Memories of My Melancholy Whores

Okay hi, /lit/. I've never been on this board before and I'm pretty sure I'm illiterate so forgive me for the faggotry I'm about to ask. Anyway, I'm taking a CW GE and we have to write something ~post-modern~. I'm having trouble distinguishing modern and post-modern. Apparently the thing about it is modernism presents loyalty to history; post-modernism, alterity. Given this, is alterity alterity from our universe, or the universe within the story? And how does one write something distinctly post-modern?

Has anyone read the Great Sea or Iron Kingdom? A friend had suggested them to be, but I am short on cash and can only pick up one. From what I understand Iron Kingdom is the story of the rise and fall of Prussia and The Great Sea is the histroy of the port cities of the Mediterainian .

Greetings /lit/, What would you recommend I read to pursue such an education? A trail of thought? The synapses of the mind are the forest of the muses.
