has anyone here published their own books on amazon? i'm curious about how it all works. i plan to publish my first "official" novel within the next couple of weeks and i'm wondering what experiences people have had. have you made any money? do you worry about negative reviews? is the process convenient and easy? do you think it is better for the writer than trying to publish the old fashioned way with a major publisher? how do you get people to notice your book when there is so much other crap being published on amazon? i'd love to hear some advice.

Hey /lit/ This thread is for all those who are learning/ interested in learning another language. Unfortunately, it will inherently serve as a stark divide between those who only know English and those who know other languages besides English. I will be attending the Sprachlehrinstitut and I need a kind soul other than my tutor (who I have to pay) to help me with my German. If there're any German speaking people who can help, please get at me. If you want to learn a language, announce so. If you know a foreign language (not Eng) announce so.

Hey /lit/ thought I'd make a nice casual thread instead of the usual 2deep4u threads Anyway I read this novel a long time ago and I enjoyed it, I've never seen the movie so I don't know how faithful it was My question is that if the monster did indeed meet its end then why does references to IT still kicking appear in lots of his other works. >Also General Stephen king thread

Why doesn't /lit/ talk about Gabriel García Márquez? I find his work very satisfying. He also had a knack for titling books. >Love in the Time of Cholera >Autumn of the Patriarch >Memories of My Melancholy Whores

Okay hi, /lit/. I've never been on this board before and I'm pretty sure I'm illiterate so forgive me for the faggotry I'm about to ask. Anyway, I'm taking a CW GE and we have to write something ~post-modern~. I'm having trouble distinguishing modern and post-modern. Apparently the thing about it is modernism presents loyalty to history; post-modernism, alterity. Given this, is alterity alterity from our universe, or the universe within the story? And how does one write something distinctly post-modern?

Has anyone read the Great Sea or Iron Kingdom? A friend had suggested them to be, but I am short on cash and can only pick up one. From what I understand Iron Kingdom is the story of the rise and fall of Prussia and The Great Sea is the histroy of the port cities of the Mediterainian .

Is there any good documentary about nature that doesn't involve SEX and animals goring each other to pieces? I wanted to show my loli niece National Geographic's "Kingdom of the Oceans" but it couldn't stop talking about SEX every 5 minutes! Before you Dawkins worshippers barge in to say that SEX is the purpose of life, I'm here to tell you that the purpose of life is to overcome SEX since that was the very thing that got us kicked out of Heaven in the first place! Fucking hedonistic evolutionists, this is why I can't even show my family Carl Sagan's Cosmos.

Hey there /lit/izens: I'm currently embarking on a book that's centered around pre-history (i.e. pre-history, in between the time of dinosaurs and humans, say) and am trying to begin researching. If any of you can point me to some good articles on pre-history or websites/suppositories related to the subject I'd be very grateful. I'm not very picky on what you may define as "pre-history" or how whatever it may relates to it, either.
