Is the universe absolutely 100% perfectly balanced? Does a problem indicate a solution and joy signal forthcoming sorrow?

Balance is a human invention. So are problems, solutions, joy, and sorrow.

no idea if there's a perfect balance or any way to tell, but everything is both good and bad. nothing exists as pure good or pure evil. now, if i were to die tomorrow, it'd be mostly bad for me, the good is that it will end my suffering, good for the hundreds of cows i will consume in the next few years, and so on. it's up to you to figure out which manner of thinking is the best in each situation. this is why the liberal arts are absolutely essential.

For example do you feel you will live a perfect balance of positive and negative emotions by the time you die? Death being a part of the negative, possibly positive.

there is no good or evil because good or evil is a perception, but based on human perception itself does the human experience entire equity in what he senses

There are people who suffer through years, even decades of severe depression. I somehow doubt there's a balance of positive and negative emotions in their lives.

but you cannot think of a single case of somebody experiencing decades of happiness and positive emotion in their lives. does that mean there is more negative emotion than positive in humans? then it's not worth living whatsoever and humans are corrupt

The disturbed balance is constantly returning to being balanced, but it gets more complex as time goes on. This complexity remains balanced insofar as the balance is implicit in the existence of all things within the whole of reality, which must maintain within itself all extremes at all times, and which is in its essence simply the working-through of the results of these extremes relating to each other. Joy not only signifies sorrow but attains identity through sorrow.

maybe the balanced comes after life, or individuality is an illusion, and it's balanced when seeing all as one

The human mind tries to find order in the universe, so I can understand why you'd think this, but it's within the range of possibilities for a person to be mostly miserable during their life, and it's also within the range of possibilities to be mostly joyful. The net sum of each person's joy and misery, where the joy is positive and the misery is negative, does not balance out to equal zero. The universe, being indifferent to human emotions, makes no attempts to make us feel good or bad or both. I'm convinced that as neuroscience advances scientists will come up with ways to significantly decrease human misery while increasing human joy.

If there was balance in the universe then the universe would not exist. It is because of the imbalance of creation that we are. Our physics are defined as action and reaction. Has nothing to do with human emotion or things we perceive as problem and solution.

Why not? The only reason you feel joy is because you have felt sorrow and vice versa, you cannot possibly have one without the other.

I will never believe in any of that "oneness" hippie garbage but I do believe in balance and that the universe is merely a straight line escorted by chaos. 'Happen' is an illusion and any excitement or enthusiasm will eventually return to its normal form.

>>6673526
Same could also be applied to the contrary. There is no 'the universe would not exist' because the universe itself is existence, there was no before the universe and there will be no after. The balance of the universe combined with movement is what causes matter, there will be a temporary imbalance using time for the sake of example, then the symmetry will twist or shift to asymmetry then back to its normal form, then perhaps repeat.

Although all of this could be total bullshit.

You're the most annoying cunt I have ever seen on any board. Philosophy is the true foundation of literature and the only subject where words can be used their absolute pinnacle and this thread is a philosophical question. Fuck off back to Reddit.

is the universe 'spherical' and is it expanding at a constant rate all across the surface? is matter/energy evenly distributed?

just because some hippies like the idea of oneness, doesn't mean it's garbage. I think this idea also comes up in other more scientific discussions and not just some new age poems. Not saying that it's right, though, just a concept worth thinking of

> Does a problem indicate a solution?

No, but it depends on your definition of a solution. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuum_hypothesis. This is a mathematical statement yet mathematicians have proved that the statement itself can not be proved or disproved. I would consider the continuum hypothesis a problem with no solution but you might claim that the proof that the CH itself can not be verified is a solution in itself.

It's balanced in nice ways sometimes. Conservation of energy and momentum are pretty cool.
