Was Plato, dare I say it, a proto-Nazi?

Anonymous 2016-10-22 18:47:27 No.8646613
I think you mean proto-Trumpian. Prepare your molotov cocktails and/or peanut butter.

Anonymous 2016-10-22 18:48:46 No.8646615
Well, you know what they say, Plato is right about everything. So it's only natural he were a nazi.

Plato was simply a collectivist.
So to answer your question, yes.

Everything about The Republic reeks of collectivism dribble.

The political philosophy of Plato begins with the confrontation between Socrates and the Athenian authorities, that is, between the philosopher on the one hand and the city-state on the other. This is why the aim of Plato's entire utopia is to facilitate the philosopher's way of life, what Aristotle called the bios theoretikos.

how's reading the wikipedia article of the republic going for you?

Anonymous 2016-10-22 19:30:35 No.8646747
You misrepresented OP's post, you've misread The Republic and now you're projecting. That's three strikes, weaboo.

reread the first few books will you. the ideal city is just an extended image used to explain the nature of justice to glaucon and adeimantus after thrasymachus insists that the unjust life is more profitable than the just one in book one. at the end of book one, you see socrates use the image of an unjust city that enslaves others to show that if it was truly unjust then it could not have functioned at the most basic level of interpersonal relationships between citizens thus not being able to profit off injustice. the image then gets extended throughout the dialogue. the ancients also called the book "on justice" for a very good reason. the laws is the only explicitly political text in plato's corpus. just because the phaedrus has images of chariots does not mean its about chariots, right?

also, how can i misrepresent OP's post when its clearly a shitpost?
