Godzilla VS Pacific Rim

I just watched Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. (for Mechagodzilla) I can see why someone would say Pacific Rim didn't deliver (or failed) as a Kaiju movie. Tokyo S.O.S. isn't any masterpiece but somehow it was a bit more fun than PR. I liked how Godzilla was smart or like Mothra "spoke" with the larvae, while PR monsters seemed to be dumb and behaved like generic animals. What I didn't like in PR is that they tried to make it look "realistic", explain everything, looking "intelligent" while Mechagodzilla doesn't give a fuck, here have a rocket barrage from my arms, here have a drill, here an exploding rocket punch, here I shoot lasers from my chest and mouth.
I wish Japanese had the luxury to blow $200M on such movie and make their own Pacific Rim, that would be glorious.
Let's try this

Bad guys are a clan of Buffy fans, series is boring, but then movie happens and the whole universe gets kill. Ideon itself is a GM Elder God.
Shinji and Rei actually engage in a relationship, Rei adopts Katz-Letz-Kikka, the Netherlands are jerks. Surfing robots because why the fuck not.

ROM! GREATEST OF THE SPACEKNIGHTS! The Silver Guardian of Galador, turned into an immortal cyborg in order to fight off the foul Dire Wraiths, has finally freed the town of Clairton of their vile menace. The cost, however, was high. With grief in his heart, he left to purge Earth of the alien menace posed by his foes.
His travels have taken him to Scotland and then to Atlantis, where he has teamed up with Namor to battle his sorcerous foes.
Armed with his mighty Neutralizer, a device capable of neutralizing any energy and banishing the Dire Wraiths to eternal torment in the hell-dimension of Limbo, he continues his two century war against his sworn enemies.

So, this was released today...
At first I was really excited with it, but now... It just doesn't feel right. This guy is not my Joe, he's just a random character with a cliche backstory. I'm not sure about the others yet, but I hope they'll be handled better than this. It's a ok first issue, but right know, I'm not sure what to expect from this series. I'll keep following, but with less expectations from now on.
