Will there ever be a change in technology in our lifetime that causes a paradigm shift as large as the one digital technology has and is still causing?
The way I see it, there are probably 3 or four paradigm changing technologies in music history: music notation, electronic amplification, recording technology, and now digital technology.
will some new thing come along? what will it be?
will they just have computers integrated with our biology so that people can just think music and it appears? will we see electronic music become more integrated with some kind of visuals so that VJ's become more important or bands start including video synthesizers to complement their bleep bloops? Will people just keep on imitating the 60's 70's and 80's for the rest of god damn eternity?
