Where do you guys think music is heading in the next few years?
I realize that is somewhat of a difficult question to answer, but I'll be straight up with my motivation for asking it.
I feel that a lot of electronic music is stagnant right now, with a lot of the underground being focused in on revivalist music types (lots of 80s sounds and such in slightly different more modern ways, but it still sounds like the same house music at its core).
I mean sure I listen to a lot of music that isn't this way. I enjoy lots of ambient music, and some underground techno, and breakcore and all that, but it feels like this is all music still drawing heavily from the mid 90s music scene. For example a lot of it sounds like Aphex Twin in some way.
I know that music evolves organically, but I also feel like I want to be part of a big jump in music, I want to make music that is "futuristic". A lot of music that I listen to that tries to capture this vibe ends up sounding like an early 00s vision of the future, and comes out a little stale.
Trying to not shitpost here, so help me out.
TL;DR: I make music with electronic instruments and I want to get crazy. Post some examples that you think are the basis for the "next jump" in electronic music overall. I know electronic music isn't a genre, but I produce using those instruments. I do listen to non-electronic shit, but I am focusing this thread on electronic music.
Picture moderately related, my main "instrument"
