So did Exai have longer lasting appeal than Tomorrow's Harvest? I always see Exai posted around here but Tomorrow's Harvest seems to have faded away like a bad memory.

Can someone be kind enough to post /mu/ 's essentials on classical music? I had a reference visual a while back ago along with world music and stuff but can't seem to find it.

What's it about?

So, /mu/, I pose this inquiry. I have never been the biggest fan of grunge, but enjoyed its contributions to other strains of music (most notably 2000's indie rock) However, Nirvana's Nevermind album is consistently considered a landmark album. So, can /mu/ explain to me why it is considered a goat?

Listening to classical music in 2013 is worthless

72 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: Wolfgang-amadeus-mozart_1.jpg]
Why do you pretentious little children pretend to like classical music in 2013? All the notions of "aesthetic quality" these composers constructed their music on are archaic: they have been eroded by the Modernist geniuses in the 20th century through the avant-garde. Not even the artist's intent is salvageable, ever since Barthes published Death of the Author. Take Mozart for example. A snotty little boy raised for the sole purpose of aurally pleasing the bourgeois, creating opera after opera and symphony after symphony of derivative, uselss, artistically-devoid garbage. This music wasn't meant to be listened to by random adolescents in the information era. This music was created without any artistic conception, without any overreaching aesthetic ideals: it was marketable background music for rich men to pretend to like and for scholars to pretend to understand. It's pathetic to see you proletariat-born suburban teens grapple to decripid works that the composers themslelves didn't even enjoy, period pieces to the greatest degree, in hopes to attain "culture": I'm sure you realize that no cultured people care about classical music anymore, correct? Try listening to musique concrete or elektronische musik, maybe then you'll impress the people you will never meet.
