ok /mu/, pleb here
I've been lurking for a bit here but haven't been able to really relate to a lot of the sharethreads here so I thought I'd make my own thread.
I desperately need to update my musical library but I'm so picky about music that it's been fruitless, try after try. Mostly the depth of sound is something that kills me (especially in most electronic-based music... you just can't mimic real instruments), the intricate layers of sound in favourites like Pink Floyd and Radiohead are just orgasmic and part of the reason they're so fucking famous (and good!). however, you can only listen to the same 500 songs so long before you tire of everything you loved and so, here I am.
My current (overplayed) musical library consists of old favourites like Muse (oldest 3 albums only), Radiohead (OKC/HttT <3), Smashing Pumpkins, Beck, Belle & Sebastian, Sigur Ros/Jonsi, Rasputina/Melora Creager, Final Fantasy/Owen Pallett, the Decemberists, Goo Goo Dolls, and Pink Floyd...
go ahead take the first part of the thread to throw insults, and then somebody fucking help me here! where do I even start?!
The /mu/ Awards 2012

>Pre-emptive tl;dr... The Awards are on again, I want to discuss a few ideas.
Here we go again. For the third year running, we're going deep into the abyss of trolling, triumph, butt hurt, and Borda counts that is the /mu/ Awards.
For those who don't know, the basic idea is this; we (well, I) run a two-stage poll of /mu/'s users over a range of award categories (such as Best Album, Worst Single, Best Live Act, Best Hip Hop Album...) and then in a huge set of threads near the end of December we give out the awards.
Yes, it's only October, but the nomination process kicks-off in early November, so I wanted to have a couple of threads over the next few weeks testing out a few ideas and hear what people think.
To clarify, I am entirely self-appointed, the real justification I have for doing this is because I had the idea two years ago, and I still enjoy the process. The awards have no official status on the board (although, mods - if you exist - I'd love a sticky).
