Because she's as free as a human being can be.

She embraces her humanity, the fact that she's a woman, she's open about sexuality but not in an aggressive or in-your-face way. You can see all that in the way she moves, talks and even how she uses her voice.

Plus, she's beautiful in that extremely sexual, but innocent kind of way

At least that's how I see it.

Oh no you're right, we should just stick to Yeezus threads instead, or instead of admitting "Bjork general" it would be better to just post a "This is objectively the best album ever" thread because shitposting is better isn't it. Or I could just make a Groove player shill thread or another discussion about Fantano or something about being patrician or pleb because that's not overdone or fucking retarded. Maybe I shouldn't start a thread and I should just post shit about albums that already have threads but that I have never listened to (while still having a strong opinion on) like most people.

The reason why this is actually good advice is that a lot of the enjoyment of music comes out of familiarity itself. eg. on a simple level, being able to sing along to your favourite song or whatever.

Try watching some videos of hers or live performances, here are some good ones

Just curious, anyone else actually got into Bjork off Debut and Post? Those were the 2 albums that I liked, Homogenic and Vespertine clicked quite a bit later. Venus as a Boy was first Bjork song I fell in love with, too.

I'm just curious because literally every time people ask for a place to start with Bjork Homogenic or Vespertine get dropped.

Why does she look sort of like Jonsi in here? Are all Icelandic people related or something?

I listened to it a few weeks ago, I don't recall everything. I guess there were moments I liked, it just didn't *click* with me at any time like it usually does with other artists. I think I found the music too bland or something.

Maybe it's due to her big discog, it might have been overwhelming at first. I'm not good with artists with a lot of albums (like The Flaming lips, of Montreal).

If you all say it's an acquired taste, I'm willing to give it a chance and listen to her more.

i liked debut more than post to start with.

I don't really see vespertine recommended as a starting point though

to be honest the first song that really got me into Björk was Human Behaviour but the rest of the Debut didn't do much for me

it's probably because those albums are the ones that usually really blow your mind

Her songwriting isn't the most sophisticated in the world, if that's something you look for then maybe she isn't for you. She is good at pulling together other people with lots of talent and also a lot of the appeal is her voice itself, which can be an acquired taste but it does grow on you.
