I wouldn't say they're my favorite band but they've gotten to my top played band on last.fm.

I think "Fearless" by Taylor Swift is actually a good and well-written album, especially for her age at the time. I think if she stayed on that track she would be a mature songwriter today that's well-respected, but instead she chose to go down the pandering "songs about famous ex boyfriends" route.

No. I wouldn't use the words "incredibly talented" to describe Tswift. "Had a lot of potential in song-writing but has regressed" is how I feel. She basically went from being America's sweetheart where everyone was like "omg she's so mature for 17!" to a 23 year old who acts like she's 15, and her music has reflected both of those periods.

I kinda agree. With the exception of Radiohead and Spiritualized, I listen to very few British rock bands from the 90s that didn't start earlier.

British post-punk produced some of my favorite music ever, and I like a lot of early British indie bands like The Smiths, JAMC and MBV, but starting with about the Stone Roses, I lost almost all interest in traditional "British Indie." Even a noisy band like Mclucksy sounds boring to me.

I don't know about being obsolete, but there's only so much you can do with that format. I think what separates good modern-day loud rock bands (Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees) from shitty ones is their songwriting chops. That's where you can still derive a distinct personality. I can tell a John Dwyer from a mile away, something I can't say about a lot of loud rock bands now.
