What rear sprocket should I do on my Nexus 8? I am kind of small and weak (although I hope to get stronger), and have some 8-10% (or more) hills around here, and keep in mind standing for maximum torque is not recommended because if the hub slips or strips, then you crash and die. I also do flats sometimes though so I don't want to sacrifice all flatland ability for hill climbing.
Currently I have a 16T, even going downhill, 8th does not seem that useful yet. I would prefer even sprocket for longer chain life. For commuting/recreation what are the minimum/maximum gear inches you use?

Hey /n/, quick cycling question for you:
I ride pic related, got it a couple years ago for 125 USD, works pretty well but I get a lot of bent spokes and just general wear down.
Anyway, I was thinking of upgrading, and I wasn't sure if I should add some high quality parts over time or just start with a whole new bike.
I use it for commuting and light courier work.
Also, the picture is not of mine, I do not own a camera and my bike is dirty anyway.

Thinking about getting a new bicycle. I'm fat and out of shape, and I have bad knees, so riding is difficult, but I can do it. Mostly riding on pavement, so I don't need anything rugged. My main question is should I go for free wheel or fixed? And what about gearing? I have a 12-speed, and I feel like I'm shifting all the time. But it's a steel frame and really heavy.
tl;dr - free or fixie? gears bad?
