Why is Eurotunnel so bloody restrictive about foreign operators running through their tunnel? Couldn’t they make more money by just leasing the tunnel/charging a fee whenever a train passes through the tunnel instead of operating and maintaining their own fleet?

Are roadies the worst of our kind? Thinking they are the shit, while being just shitty? Arrogant, self-absorbed, entitled, dangerous and just plain obnoxious, powerbar-munching, penis displaying gearhead faggots? Most of my niggawtf stories happened with rodies/freds. They dont even have the basic road safety equipment because muh grams and disrespect traffic laws because muh speed. They are equivalent of chopper riders among bikers or Audi drivers among cagers. Just the worst.

/n/igs, is 50 miles too much of a distance to go without eating? I've been doing 50 mile rides for a while now on flats with, at times, strong 15+ head winds and averaging 18 - 20 mph. I usually load up the night before and don't feel hungry at all during or after riding. Pic not related, but it's what I'm drinking right now doe.

Gallant bicycles No. 3

So there's a project on Kickstarter from Gallant bicycles for a new frame they're calling the No.3. It's apparently a road/touring/cross frame, with No.1 and No.2 being track style and step through frames. The dropout system seems pretty simple but neat at the same time and it looks like the frame is supposedly well made. Is this frame anything special and worth the $400 compared to any other market frame? It looks to me that they're trying to appeal to the hipster group who wants x colour with y accents etc etc.

Can anyone who uses all of the certain equipment for an accurate "calories burned" reading for cycling tell me how close and accurate MyfitnessPal's "calories burned" reading is after inputting their stats? For instance, take your last ride, assuming you are confident that the equipment you use gives you a very close and accurate calories burned reading, input your ride into the link below so we can tell how close or far apart the readings are. I'm looking for those who specifically use HRM's and power meters and all that stuff for the most accurate readings. Now input that same ride here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/exercise/lookup Search for "cycling" and choose between the 5 base options: >10-12 mph, light >12-14 mph, moderate >14-16 mph, vigorous >16-20 mph, very fast >20mph, racing It will ask for your weight and how many minutes of riding you did of the 5 base options to calculate how many calories you burned. Compare the two readings, and post results

DIY puncture resistant bike tires

51 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Gordormit /n/. I'm fucking sick and tired of getting punctures almost every day riding to and from work, on a mixture of road, concrete slab bikeways and occasional gravel. All scattered with broken glass and teeth and ghetto shit. This could either be alleviated by buying a set of 26 or 27 inch rims with some hybrid bullshit tires which I hate, or buying gatorskins which eat too far into my boozefunds. So I'm doing The Thing. The Thing that I'm sure you've tried yourself sometime before. Do It Yourself puncture-proof ghetto-rigging of things to the existing tires or tubes to put an end to this faggotry once and for all. Any tips? Any pointers? Picture is a length of heavy-duty pallet banding tape which I believe is made from nylon. It's around a millimeter thick, a centimeter wide, and flexes enough to loop around in on itself but not flex side to side. I'm going to attempt to make a shield between my inner tube and a pair of maxxis detonator 700's with it.

So I'm biking to work last night, right? When all of a sudden I hear a cup and liquid splash down in front of me, and the folks in a car laughing as they speed past. I realized I almost became target practice for some joy-riding idiots. The person in the car's aim was so bad that the cup whizzed past me from behind and crashed in front of my front bike tire as I rolled past it. Sheer freakin luck that I didn't end up with a drenched work uniform. All I could do was continue biking like a jackass, hoping this crap doesn't happen again. Anyone ever been a victim of shit like this? Getting hit with projectiles or cups full of liquid by idiots who don't even deserve the damn car that they're driving in?

You Rage You Lose: Transportation Edition

Transportation related things that piss you off. Any forms of transportation or infrastructure welcome. A brakeless fixed gear cargo bike with carbon rims... You know what's going to make it harder for you to stop at the bottom of a hill? CARGO. You know what's going to make a hill harder to climb? CARGO. There's a reason cargo bikes come with hydraulic disc brakes and a wide gear ratio. You're defeating the purpose of a cargo bike with this ridiculous monstrosity and complete waste of time. Cargo bikes are purpose built machines made for larger stresses than the average bike, and while carbon is often considered stronger than other rim materials, it suffers with incarnadines in the longevity of it's life. Especially if you're putting excessive stresses on them like you would see with a cargo bike. This is not only an utterly ludicrous idea, but a large danger to anyone around this thing including the rider.
