Hey /n/, newbie biker here. my bike's brakes are starting to have a few problems 1. I have to squeeze pretty hard to get some friction onto the wheel. and 2. when I do squeeze my hands off, the brakes stay in, making me push the brake handle back into it's normal place. I'm pretty okay with tools, so I think fixing this myself might be kinda easy, but I don't know what to even look up on youtube to start trying to "fix" my problems. some help would be greatly appreciated, Pictures not related. I don't have that many images on my laptop

I'm moving to Canada next summer for a job and I can't afford a car. What is the most bicycle friendly city in Canada?

hey /n/iggers, first time poster; from what I've seen, your board isn't particularly fond of BMX bikes, but I figured this is the most appropriate board. I'm looking to purchase a BMX bike for riding to my girlfriend's and mates' houses (Ipswich is fucking hot, walking there is a bitch) , dicking around at the skatepark, being a teenager and eventually fracturing something on. My problem is I can't afford to pay any more than $220 (Which is pushing it, I'm aiming for Sub $180, however), and from what I've read, a lot of the bikes available at those prices (eg; Diamondback Viper 20" at BigW for ~$150) are too heavy / fucking shit that is going to fall apart / make me fucking rage because I can't bunnyhop on it because it's shite. So can someone please link me to some good cheap BMX's I'd be able to get here in Queensland? Also, anyone know if the cheaper Diamondbacks are infact good, and if what I've been reading is just faggots being faggots. tl;dr 1. Ausfag need BMX for less than $220 2. Are these any good; http://www.bigw.com.au/sports-leisure/bikes-accessories/bikes/kids-bikes/bpnBIGW_0000000281746/diamo ndback-viper-50cm http://www.bigw.com.au/sports-leisure/bikes-accessories/bikes/BMX/bpnBIGW_0000000312778/diamondback- venom-50cm-freestyle-bmx-bike 3. What the fuck is the major difference between the two that warrants the extra 50?

hey /n/ couple of quick questions. I'm a cycling noob that bought a fixie, and doesn't like it because its too hard. I don't want to give up on the bike. It seems the most obvious solution is to use the free wheel side of the hub and get a bigger cog. I'm wondering if this will be enough. How big a cog can/should you get? If a person is really weak would it be advisable to start off trying to get a smaller chainring?

What would a society with flying cars be like? Let's say a company builds a quiet, 5 passenger VTOL aircraft that costs less than $60,000 and can cruise at 400mph with a range of 1000nm. What kind of infrastructure would these vehicles need? I believe that ground cars would not go extinct but will be used only for short distance trips (less than 50 miles), where as the aircraft will be used exclusively for long distance trips. intercontinental public flights will be mainly for intercontinental trips, where people could rent the flying cars in the same way they would rent regular cars, the perk being that the aircraft can be piloted from either the left or the right front seat. On a further note, what killed Moller's design? Did they not have enough money or what is to expensive or too unconventional. I believe an aircraft in that configuration (four tilting ducted fans) will be very stable and very fast. But I don't understand why they haven't continued with flight testing beyond hover tests. If the aircraft were built on an automated assembly line like automobiles, it would be far cheaper than "kit built" aircraft that are built one at a time.

Hey /n/, Four friends and I want to get from Baltimore to New Orleans this May, but we can't drive because our one friend with an suv is going to be in Australia for a while. Is there any affordable (by which I mean $400-1000) way to get to and from without driving? Planes and trains are way too expensive for our budgets.

How can cyclists expect equal treatment on the roads as car users when they don't pay road tax or insurance? You are not a cars equal you don't pay anything to use the roads.

$1500 to buy or build a road bike

Hey /n/. I rode a fair amount amount on my cheap mountain bike this past summer (20 mile daily average, 6 days per week). Now that that bike has been stolen I've been looking into buying a road bike or building one from a frameset up. I hear this time of year is a good time to pick up a bike from shops anticipating new stock. Building the bike yourself obviously allows you to decide which components you'd like, while weighing their cost into the project. I would really like to avoid going over a $1500 budget regardless of I purchase an entire bike or build it, and included in that cost I'd like to factor in a saddle that doesn't hurt like a bitch after 5 miles like the one on my MTB did (I know it was cheap but whatever). Advice? In short: How good of a bike can I buy for $1500, or build myself for the same amount?

Japanese distance-based fares, you so crazy

I happened to be looking up information on traveling by bus in Okinawa, and I found out that they have this convoluted pay-on-exit fare system for their rural routes. 1. Board bus. Take ticket from farebox. 2. When preparing to alight, check number printed on ticket against electronic sign at the front of the bus. Sign will indicate fare to pay. 3. Deposit ticket and fare into farebox, exact change only. (A change machine is available to break 1,000 yen notes if necessary.) How the fuck does that not result in astronomical dwell times from confused/ignorant passengers? Seattle might have a vaguely similar system, but at least they have ORCA cards to smooth out payment.

What brooks model do you have? How wide are your sitbones? How low or high are your handlebars? How many miles and years have you had it? Non-Brooks owners can kindly fuck off.
