Let's discuss drive train maintenance, /n/.
Sheldon Brown says you should remove your drive train components and soak them in solvent on a regular basis. Yet some people claim you should not do this, at least not often, presumably because removing a chain and putting it back on puts wear on the chain.
Yet chains have to be replaced more often than other drive train components, and keeping everything really clean will help prolong the chain rings, cassette, and rear derailleur. So I think it could be a good idea.
What do you guys do? And how often do you replace your chain, chain rings, cassette, and rear derailleur?
