what's with cyclists in "racing gear" and douchebaggery? why are the ones in these ultra tight faggotry outfits usually the most aggressive, dumb and dangerous cyclists around? is it because they get their balls squished by all the spandex? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO7_Fq56g2c

I almost got flattened by a dump truck today, fucker just blew out of a construction site almost hitting two cars in the process. I'm thinking about getting an ID tag made with my important medical info and drug allergies on it, just in case. Don't know if I'll get one of these from the pharmacy and have it engraved elsewhere, or go the cheaper route of going to one of those pet tag machines in Walmart and having it engraved there on a nondescript tag that doesn't look like a bone. If it'll even let me put that kind of info on there. Thoughts? Does anybody here wear anything with their medical info and emergency contact info just in case a cager royally fucks them up?

Let's discuss drive train maintenance, /n/. Sheldon Brown says you should remove your drive train components and soak them in solvent on a regular basis. Yet some people claim you should not do this, at least not often, presumably because removing a chain and putting it back on puts wear on the chain. Yet chains have to be replaced more often than other drive train components, and keeping everything really clean will help prolong the chain rings, cassette, and rear derailleur. So I think it could be a good idea. What do you guys do? And how often do you replace your chain, chain rings, cassette, and rear derailleur?

Hilly cities and biking

I know how to encourage biking in hilly cities. railing along the sides of the streets that have a tow system installed in them. you get to a hill and grab onto a handle and get pulled up the hilly while still on your bike. it would just be this constantly slow moving belt of handles.

Official /n/ 3rd Generation Cycling Jersey Thread #4

Results from survey about color/teamname/etc : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JRzsfkfTMnTcwItAg2-_-9Ikl-RC91Z6e8zXDmCEKlY/pubhtml We are still in a developing phase, I know some projects are already full designed and counting up users who want to buy in and that's fine. I'm not really a big fighter so if you want to do that you should do that. What we are trying to do specifically in this thread is design the "official /n/ jersey" when I say that I mean that anything we produce has to be voted on and surveyed, it has to be put through the ringer until we have a "jersey" that the /n/ userbase feels represents them. I've gotten a couple of e-mails about this so I'm saying it. This is a "community" that is designing a "community" jersey. It is irrelevant to me if the next generation /n/ jersey is designed and finished in 1 month or a year, all that matters is that it represents this community and uses the input of the users who want there opinions brought onboard. Bicyclist fears dog attack

Last summer I got chased by dogs while cycling a few times on rural roads, and I was wondering what the best way to protect myself would be? Avoiding travelling in areas where people let their dogs loose is not really feasible: I am surrounded. I live in Canada, so anything that could be construed as a weapon means prison time. What do you guys do to avoid being eaten?

Hey /n/ignogs. I'm fat. Like 163 kilos fat. But I average 11 mph and at least 200kw in power. Is there anywhere to compare these stats against other fatties to measure my performance and progress?

Bike Messengers

Moving to San Francisco soon, going to need a job to pay for shit (got the joog rent for $500/month), thinking about bike messenger? I found a place that's looking to recruit new people over the summer time which is when I'd be going. I'm buying a 10-speed today from craigslist (I currently only have a single-speed, which can't do hills) and thinking about buying a messenger bag. The one I'm looking at is $70. If there's anything I should know or am doing way wrong please help. Pic related only pic I could find of my bike
