Hey /n/. I had a really nice mountain bike I built myself stolen (thanks to a roommate), then a really nice 1981 SR Semi-Pro I restored stolen (thanks to a different roommate).
Bought a shitty 1983 Nishiki to restore, it is chromoly and not butted Tange Champion #2 like my beloved SR. This means it is heavy as fuck and not nearly as enjoyable to ride. I have been looking for another SR to replace it, but they are hard to come by.
Anyway, while at a local non-profit bike store (they get old bikes, fix them up and then resell them to fund bike programs for kids) I found what I believe to be a 2000 Specialized Allez A1 for $450. It has been cleaned up and is in great condition. There are some dings in the paint, but I don't really care about that. It is also a 60cm, which is great to find because as a 6'1 person, bikes can be harder to find.
Thing is, I don't know a ton about modern road bikes. I was able to find that it retailed for $900 when it came out, and there are used ones going for between $500 and 750 on craigslist.
Is this something I should pounce on, or should I just keep looking for an SR?
Picture is the same color/style as the one at the shop.
