If you have brifters or F3S as I call them, and you have a job, and are not a professional racer, I cannot take you seriously as a cyclist. In fact, I don't consider you a cyclist at all. You are a poseur who fantasizes about yowamushi pedal as he keeps a death grip on his hoods, like he's going to fall off the bike if he moved his hand position. Which, of course, he would. Instantly.
I don't even work and I have barcons because I ride so much, what makes you think you NEED F3S? You have a support van following you around everywhere? No, of course not. You gonna fix those somehow, when they jam? Course not. Because you don't have a Class III cleanroom and a CNC milling machine at your disposal. Nope. You'll take out your iPhone and call mommy to carry her home in her minivan.

Should I get a road bike, a hybrid, or a MTB?
I'm planning on riding this bike to destinations within my town. We do have some shitty ass roads and some you can't even ride on, due to the probability of getting hit by a car and have to sometimes stick to the sidewalks.
I've rode shitty hand me down MTB's all my life and I'm looking to get a brand new nice bike around $250. I heard road bikes are fast but the way the handle bars go down under and make you lean far forward seems uncomfortable
pic related is the bike I was planning on getting.
tldr; road, MTB, or hybrid for riding around town?

This is to all the anti car "muh death cages" "muh environment" Critical-Mass tier idiots.
Cry and complain all you want. Talk shit, get hit. The road is for everyone.
Most people (99%) are fine with BOTH cars and cyclists, but the special-snowflake cyclists think they deserve more privileges on the road, to the point that they bully people on the road with the so-called "Critical Mass" hooliganism.
/n/ bicycle threads are echo chambers that breed anti-car Critical Mass-ism. Come out and see how everyone else sees you. You are the bullies. The "Critical Mass" community claim to have a positive message, but in reality it is a thin excuse to bully drivers just for the sake of bullying anyone that don't cycle.
For the rest of the cyclists that are sane and follow the law, proceed as normal.
Very important reminder about board culture

If you don't have fenders, disc brakes, and a rack, you are a clearly the kind of cyclist whose rides begin and end at the same point once every Saturday afternoon between April and early June and then once again between late September and early November, provided it's sunny and there's no breeze
Enjoy dumping $200 worth of gasoline into your needy 5,000 pound steel baby that drains your life essence while you complain bitterly that it's too hard to ride to work because you'll be "all tired and sweaty"
This is the transportation board, cagers who own cages belong on /o/
Cycling Quality by State/Country?

Hey, as a starting cyclist, I wanted to know the worst states and countries to cycle in, by amount of assholes/cagers, and road quality. Post your experiences with your state/country, and others you've been to.
I live in Toronto, Canada, and it's not too bad, not many climbs in my opinion, and they are putting money into creating more cycle tracks(segregated cycling lanes) which is fantastic.
