Taking this here from /fit/ Anyone mountain bikers out there? Britfag here, Oxfordshire to be exact. I've got a 10 year old hybrid bike that I've been using to explore little trails and paths around my area recently. Been really enjoying it, even though its been -3 and icy as fuck. And all the rain has made most fields completely flooded. Want to buy my first mountain bike when it starts coming up to spring but I'm kinda clueless about what to buy. So far I think I want a hardtrail purely to save some money, and I'm thinking of a 29er because most of the trails I will be exploring for a while are simple forest and country tracks, no crazy winding trails just yet. Pic is where I live. Been to the area in red yesterday. Today went to a little area further south but it was so flooded I couldn't do much. Want to go explore the woods in yellow once it dries up.

Guys, I don't want to start a "what bike is gud" thread but I have couple questions about a bike I am looking at. My LBS is having a sale on 2011-2012 bikes and they have a nice Opus Othello L (56cm) for ~$900. My main bike right now is a department store bought Raleigh 26" full suspension bike. I have never had to really deal with minute size differences so I am over thinking everything. I am tallish at 6 ft but I have short legs (31-32 inch inseam) so the bike may be undersized for my height but fits my manlet legs. Picture somewhat related.

How is the thing I drew on the picture called? It's used to carry stuff in your bike but I don't know it's name.

Hey /trv/, I've often heard that if you want to know how something is done, to speak to those who have done it. That something, is travelling, as you might have guessed, and I am very familiar with the "Why" i must do this (travel), but I haven't the vaguest clue about the "How". Everything I look up is either motivational, or involves some two year career that feels, well, out of reach. As it is I feel like my life routine is killing me, and in a few years I wont be young anymore. I've been doing research on my free time, but i feel like its going too slowly, like throwing shots in the dark. If anyone had any resources they know of that has helped them make decisions to live a "no bounds" lifestyle or anything like that, you would be doing me a great service. So, I guess my real question to you guys... is where do i begin?

How does a plane go from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere without some kind of gravity fuck up? Doesn't it technically have to flip upside down at one point?

What do you think about the Subaru vx? I need a car that's better in the snow than my current 2wd. I can barely pull out of the driveway in my Camry in the snow. Pic related

Hey /n/. I'm wanting to get a cheap, used bike to help keep myself in shape and get to/from school. I've been looking on austin.craigslist.org/bia, but I'm not really sure what I need. My budget is $180 (or less, preferably). Any help? Thanks. pic is from out-of-budget bike on craigslist

Why do Americans believe they can fix the transportation problems of a city and its suburbs by building a single lightrail route a few miles long in the gentrified downtown? How does it service the whole city? The suburbs? How does anyone even get to it? Where do they then go on on it?

I got lazy and let the other thread die, finally laced up the front wheel and "finished" the build. The spokes I had were for a Notubes which is deeper so I had to go 2x instead of 3x on the Open Pro. Works fine, rode down Eldridge Grade at full speed(a dirt fire road going down Mt Tam, some of you may be familiar) today, couldn't feel my hands and my teeth almost vibrated out but the bike held up.

>Jan 7th >787 has fire breakout after it's auxiliary battery malfunctions >Jan 15th >787 makes emergency landing after "battery failure" and smoke filled the cockpit I rode a dreamliner back in December when United was flying them around the country and loved it, but I'll be staying far the fuck away from this thing now that there's an obvious and serious design flaw in the electrical system. Only a matter of time until one of these things burns up in mid-flight. How fucked do you guys think Boeing now that they're flagship airliner is quickly gaining a reputation for being a flying coffin?
