How much does your bicycle weigh, /n/?
This is what a 15,1 kg bicycle looks like.
It's MY2011 Specialized Crosstrail 21 speed, basic spec, I added plastic fenders, bottle holder with bottle, front and tail lights, a bell, small toolkit and minipump (weighs nearly 0.2 kg, not in pic).
I intend to use it as a touring bike and because it needs much more gear (panniers, U-lock + cable, 2nd water bottle,...) the weight will increase.
>Is it possible for me to be fully packed for a 2 week road trip and keep it under 23-25 kilos (excluding water)?
>how much is too much for comfortable long distance travel?
>what are smart ways to reduce weight on the cheap? I really dont have money for carbon
Thanks and post your bikes/weight.

Hey guys Im new to the whole bike scene. I only road as a kid.
Im 220 pounds, 6 foot 2 with 33-34 inseam and looking for a nice mountain bike for decent to hard trails, I live in south Texas area.
I have access to test out Specialized, Trek, and Raleigh bikes, with another local seller that has Fuji Scott and Giant.
Seeing as this is my first bike I probably want to buy from a LBS unless I can get a crazy deal, like the Airborne Goblin has been what ive been looking at.
My price range is from 1500 to 2000 and I require Tubeless possibility for all the cacti around here.
Thank you for your time and suggestions

I just got trekking bars to replace my flat bars and now I need to apply bar tape. I bought Fizik bar tape based on recommendations.
I've never applied bar tape before, so I have a couple questions. First, there is about 1/4 of an inch wide adhesive in the middle, should this adhesive stick to the bars or is that where the tape should overlap? Second, there's a few inches of bar tape on the end that doesn't have holes like the rest of the tape (pic related), but why? Am I supposed to cut that off and use it for something, or is that where I'm supposed to begin the wrap, or is there some other reason that portion of the tape is different from the rest of it?

> dads needs srs repairs
> offered to help him out
> just replaced cranks and BB with spare deore I had
> rd is bent, no spares
> need to buy new one
> limited budget
> see slx for $35, alivio for $25, or Altus and Acera for $15
what do you guys suggest? Im mostly on the border between Alivio and Altus or Acera (dont know which of these two is better). Like I said, its a hybrid not an mtb so he shouldnt need slx, and hes not a serious cyclist.

So /n/ordic gods...
I am looking for a helmet that would look okay on a really big fucking head, I measured my head and it was 62cm, I can't find any good helmets that fit my oversized dome. I want something that would look okay too, i.e. that has more side coverage on my head, I wear beanies a lot, and I tend to like that side coverage of the head that a beanie provides, to give an example of what I mean by side coverage, the snowboarding helmets have good coverage, do you know of any that has okay coverage that would fit my retardedly huge head?
Pic related: it's the snowboard helmet I was talking about.
