Alright, so I found out something intredasting today.
Anyways, on my bike is a brand new KMC chain. After 400 miles of pretty dusty trail, I removed it to give it a good soak in mineral spirits and re-lube with fresh Boeshield. I had cleaned it while on the bike and relubed it once before about halfway.
I removed the chain, placed it inside a glass jar with a metal lid, poured some spirits in it and gave it a good shake. All the factory grease came off and I was left with a sparkling chain. Then I stuck a very powerful magnet that I pulled out of an old hard drive and stuck it to the top of the metal lid, flipped it upside down and gave it a good shake. This is what remains.
A decent-sized pile of ferrous material was embedded in the chain.
Take from it what you will but I think I will stick to using wax-based lubricants from now on. Perhaps even soak new chains in spirits and relube with Boeshield or White Lightning or something. The factory lube is too much of a dust magnet and contributes to the grinding-paste effect.

Im such a dipshit. Lost 3/4 bolts on the trail, had to limp the bike home. I have essentially the same setup in pic, except w/ 64bcd bashring as opposed to the n-stop
anyone have a source for a low cost, but not shitty, bolts? I only lost the bolt, not the other inner piece the bolt screws into to
How much to get a trail bike in the UK

I just turned 18 a month ago, and I figure that I really ought to get round to obtaining a method of transport after procrastinating for the past year and a half. Anyway, I was looking into getting a trail bike because:
A - I couldn't afford to buy or insure a car
B - Better fuel economy
C - I would like to be able to use this off-road (I live in a rural area surrounded by fields)
So, I was wondering roughly how much money it would take to, from scratch, buy a trail bike, buy all equipment needed, get fully licensed (to A1 - I would only want a 125CC engine) and everything else required (MOT, CBT etc.)? I have roughly £1400 at my disposal, would this be enough (I would be looking to find a pretty cheap second hand bike)?
Also, would I be able to sit a CBT and start riding the trail bike straight away with no supervision (at least not on motorways)?
