Hi /n/, first time posting here, just had a quick question I was unsure about I ride my bicycle to work to save gas since it's really close by I live in an area with lots of hills, so I can just coast downhill most of the way Now what I want to know is: What will get me downhill faster? Sitting down or standing up on the pedals? Does it matter?

Hey, /n/. I wasn't sure how to word this in a google search, so I'll ask you guys. Is there a way to tighten the handling on my bike? The axis of the front wheel feels really slippery. It's scary at faster speeds. I guess the best way to describe my request is, is there any way I can make turning the front wheel...slower?

Hey /n/, what is a good bike for me to get to commute over a relatively flat area with winding roads? There aren't any sidewalks, because I live in a pretty rural area (southern New Hampshire). Ill be going about 3 or 4 miles either way, with plans to go further.

Sup guys, it will be a custom bikes thread. I want to order a custom colossi frame, my lbs work with them and can take my measurements to order a custom frame, I prefer steel and not aluminium. Also I want to put a miche groupset, they use a campy derailleurs so I think it a good decision. What do you think anon ?

Hi /n/, what do you guys think of the Ritchey P-650b, any opinions? I was thinking of buying the frame and putting a nice 100mm travel fork on it for XC. http://ritcheylogic.com/frames/mountain/p-650b-mountain-frame.html

A/n/y other homies out there have a bike thats older than they are ? I have an 86 or 85 Bridgestone 400 series. They are kind of rare. I've only seen one exactly like mine in blue. The other bridgestones I see are way different. I wanted to keep everything original but I couldn't. The front rim belongs to my Fuji Roubiax which got stolen. ITT: Old school bikes and tips on how to make them feel new ( new parts ) Im kind of worried I will break it soon.

Hello, /n/. I'm usually on /out/ and I've been looking into getting a bike (a road bike, specifically), and in my mention of it, I was gifted a use mongoose mountain bike. I said thank you, of course, and accepted the bike. Though I'm not too interested in it, as I don't know much about the quality, nor is it the kind of bike I was planning on getting. (But it's free, eh?) Can anyone tell me about their experiences with Mongoose mountain bikes? The bike I do believe is this one. http://www.walmart.com/ip/24-Boys-Mongoose-XR-75-Dual-Suspension-Mountain-Bike/13398146 I'm really not sure about it, considering mongoose has evolved into a wal-mart brand, and the bike is pretty cheap.

So, what do you think about carbon ? http://www.pinkbike.com/news/From-The-Top-Max-Commencal-interview-2013.html It's... It's complicated. We have produced Metas and hardtail frames in carbon in 2007-2008. I went to China to visit these factories. It was a shock for me, because the conditions were a disaster. The workers were working on frames with only paper masks. Kids, I say kids, but they are not kids because they are 18 or 20, are working there weaving the carbon fibre. It's dangerous. When you speak with their boss, he says, "in my factory you don't stay too long because your life might only be five years." So they work six months and they change. All the suppliers are asking for cheaper and cheaper carbon frames. When I came back, believe me, I was not comfortable. I said, I will lose sales, but I do not want to produce carbon. We produce aluminium frames, strong frames, it's a game and we are not there to... kill... only because we want to save 300g weight. So I said, "No, I don't want to produce carbon." I have produced carbon in Toulouse for Nico Vouilloz and Cedric Gracia, 15 or 20 years ago. But it was made in a room with no air in it, with people wearing protective equipment, and it's very expensive. In China, for me... I do not want to communicate on this, I only talk about this because you asked about it. I don't say that all factories are the same, maybe some are cleaner, but, for the moment... And we are working on some other technologies, you will see next year or the year after... With carbon you cannot repair it, you cannot recycle it. Too many bad things.

/fit/ here. I'm doing some cycling as cardio, but my bottom bracket has worn out. I've pulled it out and apparently it's a BB-7420. Now I've looked alot online, but there's all kinds of different versions/sizes out there. My BB looks like the one in the pic, but instead of 68 it says 73 between the L and R. It also says 124.5 on the square tapers which I assume is the total width. Any advice on replacing bottom brackets? Does the total width matter alot?
