What should I look for? I'm looking for something suitable for long cycle tours. Also what kind of pannier bags do you recommend?

Tire/tube advice

5 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: xxxs.png]
Hi guys just some simple advice on a purchase I'm about to make I've gotten an pretty nasty flat on both tires from some nails on the road I couldn't see. So I need some new tires and tube, and wondering if these are good selections and is there anything I'm missing. Another thing is that the tire comes in a smaller 23mm size green color that would match my bike. The stock tires were 25mm , I'm a somewhat heavy guy. (170lb) would 23mm be too small without over inflating them? The highest recommended PSI from what I could see was 110. The wheels my bike use is Wiennman DP-18.

I am looking for a new rear wheel for my new Raleigh. Its a steel bike from late 1980's i guess. It currently has a 5-speed internal gear Sturmey hub, which i have to ditch because of rust and grime. Rest of the bike is in a fine condition. Rear spacing is 120mm, and I'm considering getting a new IGH, since there is no derailer hanger. All suggestions are appreciated, but I will prefer a complete wheel instead of having by LBS building one for me. Must ship to Europe.

hello /n/, first time here, and I have a couple question that I hope you can help me out with. my GF has gotten into triathloning recently and I'm planning on buying a bike so that I can train with her. I had a mountain bike when I was a kid, but really have no idea where to begin. what size bike would you recommend for someone 6'5" 250 lbs? are there certain brands I should go for, and some that I should avoid? I was planning on using craigslist to find a used bike, and maybe put some money into it to have it fixed up. my budget is $150, but I would prefer to spend between closer to $100 I'm open to any and all constructive suggestions you might have, trying to get a good value. pic... unrelated?

i was told to come here for some help. I recently bought some super deep v, black, polished metal wheels. Well after putting them on i realize they don't have a friction strip for where the brake pads hit the rim. So during my test ride i do some average speed braking and hear the most ass clenching-ness, straight out of hell, hit pitched squeeling from the brakes and rims. The rubber on the super smooth metal makes this noise. . . Wat do? tl;dr Rubber brakes on poilished metal deep v rims, makes quite a ruckus, how fix?

Is this bike worth buying? Is Jamis a good brand? I don't even know. I'll be mostly using it for commuting. http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/bik/4133031718.html

Hey /n/. I'm sure this thread is posted all the time, but I am looking for my first serious bike. I'm looking for something to use when I go to college next year. Fairly certain I want a road bike. Do you think it would be a good idea to buy a cheap old bike and then just upgrade it with new tires and stuff? I want to get something that is beyond walmart bikes but still cost effective. I've been scouring craigslist for a couple weeks now and have found some decent deals. Or would it be better to get a complete? In particular there's a $400 LeMond 53cm with a carbon fork and shimano sora derailleur. Used less than 200 miles. This seems like it would be pretty good for a beginner. Also should I get a fixie and learn its magical ways or just get a multiple speed bike? Thanks much. pic related

I just realized something. I don't see sailing posts here when it would be within the confines of the designated subject matter of this board. Has sailing lost its last shred of relevancy in the shadows of bicycles, trains, and aeroplanes?

Gonna try bike commuting this winter so I dug out my old Schwinn Continental to use as a winter beater. The chain is pretty corroded, any recommendations in terms of chains for an OTS? Also, fell free to offer any advice to a winter biking newb.

Hey /n/, What is your height and weight? It is tough being asian, 5'3" 65kg and I'm a guy. Helmets smaller than Large never fit me, and sunglasses always slip down my nose. The only part I enjoy is being slightly more aero because of my small frame.
