bike wrecks

shitty rides / getting hit slowing for a yellow light coming home last night around 7pm and the car behind me decided to go for the yellow. his driver side mirror smashed into my right hip/buttock and my pedal scraped the shit out of the whole length of his nice new silver buick. he stopped and we exchanged info blah blah blah (he didn't see me). my ass hurts but my bike is fine. I could have avoided it by riding the bike path that goes through the woods, has no lighting and has massive groups of geese that hang around and attack bikers/joggers. But I chose to ride on the well lit 3 lane road wearing a bright yellow reflective jacket instead and chance a collision. What have you had in the way way of crashes on a bike?

Bicycles (supposedly) have the same right to the road as any other vehicle. So why shouldn't we require licensing and insurance like we do with every other vehicle on the roads?

APUs as engines/DIY Small Jet Engines

Sup /n/, Visitor from another board here. Calling on available Aero engineers. Wondering what you guys do in your spare time. I've been thinking alot about jet powered LSA\Utility Aircraft. They save weight and need less maintenance than conventional piston engines since it's less moving parts. They cost a bit less (seeing APUs for less than 8 grand alot but piston engines cost more than 10 grand). You don't need blazing speed, for example >pic related Top speed is 250knots. That's good enough for an LSA/Utility Aircraft. If not Turbojet/Turbofan (I'd really love to design a turbofan for those things) There's always the turboprop option. What do you guys think?

Help me gear up for a winter full of biking!

I'm starting bike delivery this winter and need advice on a complete gear overhaul for every part of my body. Discuss what you wear discuss, what you think is the best quality, and discuss what you think is the best deal. Thanks a lot I'll probably investing anywhere from 10 - 40 miles a day in a snowy city no matter what the weather so I could really use the help.

sup /n/ i've been coming to 4chan for several years now but i rarely visit /n/ and i dont think i've actually made a post here. i'm sorry if this post seems pointless but i was wondering if we could have something like an "introduction" thread. basically i just want to know what you guys personally like to do or aspirations you have when it comes to transportation. looking at the catalog i see that bikes are the most talked about thing but i did see some things about planes and rockets and other things as well. one thing i've always thought about doing was taking a long train ride. i feel pretty depressed most of the time and i wish i could just drift for miles with the moon on the horizon. sorry if i sound retarded but im not familiar with this specific board and i'd just like to get to know you better.

Brakes arent... "springy"

I have some dia compe centerpull brakes from the 70s on my raleigh super record, theyre 40 years old, so yea, theyre not springy. i pull the brake levers and they brake, but they dont spring back up, they just stick, the pads are clean, the springs are greased, the cables are new, is it an installation error? they were like this before the install (had original 40 year old cables until last year) they just dont feel right.... idk if in plagued with bad brake luck but my trek does the same thing.

Just bought a Motobecane Super Mirage for $60. Great condition. All original. Fits me very comfortable. I could only make time to do a 4 mile ride on it today, but it was a blast. Thoughts, /n/?

My fat ass broke my bike

This morning I was riding my standard work out round, there was a roadwork with a gravel bypass. I clock my rounds so I wanted to go past it as fast as possible. It was a bit rough and soon I heard a grinding sound from my bike. After the roadwork I noticed some wobbling in my pedals and I tought that I broke my bottom bracket. I was able to cycle so I decided to continue. After some 10 km at a small uphill I heard a snap and the next thing I know I am standing behind my cut in two bicycle. Should I just scrap the frame and buy a new one? It is aluminium so welding and heat treatment should do the trick? The bicycle cost me about 400 euros when I bought it. The frame has about 5000 km on it and almost every other part has been replaced at some point. Do you have similar experiences with catastrophic frame failure? I quess I was lucky that I was climbing when that happened.

Hiya /n/, I had my bike stolen this morning, when I was out looking for it a guy I met said that I could have his old bike. It's a Marin with Shimano brakes and gears. I bike to work and school and such but don't really know much at all about bikes. Just that the new bike feels way better than the old one. A bit on the small side but beggars (literally) can't be choosers. Is it any good? Anything else I know? Cheers. Pic unrelated

hey retard faggot here, how do you tell what size tireand rim you bike can fit, is there a way the frame size relates to it? or is it just whatever fits?
