Since my bike got stolen over a year ago, I've had to walk or drive everywhere. Thinking of buying pic related, mainly for transport and maybe bombing a few hills. Thoughts/recommendations?

Hello, /n/. I already made a post in a different thread about this. But since i've decided to actually go ahead and do this i thought it deserved it's own thread. This is the deal: I want to put drops on my current and only ride. It is a 26 inch hardtail with disk brakes. What exactly am i going to need to archieve this? After a fuckload of hours searching on google i've yet to find something specific. Do i really need a different stem? I've seen quite a few on eBeay that seem to give that rise that people on various forums say it's quite necessary. Also, should i get levers that work with mechanical disk brakes (is there such a thing? I've seen ones that apparent work fine with side-pull brakes.) or should i get road specific calipers? A lot of the bikes i have seen while searching in google seem to have kept their old stem and to be completely honest i'd rather not spend much since i'm broke as fuck and i'm doing this because i want a semi decent do-it-all-bike. I use for commuting in weekdays and mountain riding on (some) weekends. Most of the time i'm using Conti SportContacts on my bike, but drops just seem a lot more confortable AND fast. Pic related. It is what i want my bike to look like without spending 1700 USD on a Salsa Fargo (I fucking LOVE the way those bar-end shifters look). Thanks in advance. I will be posting a picture of my bike later today, so you can tell me wether or not my frame's geometry is up to the task or if i just forget the whole fucking thing and avoid wasting my limited resources. TL;DR: I want drops on my MTB. What should i get? Thanks in advance.

So, at least 5 spokes on my rear wheel of my bicycle are broken. How bad is it in general? Should get fixed asap? They literally broke off at the center of the wheel.

I'm looking to get a bike repair stand on a budget. Has anyone had experience with the Nashbar Basic Repair Stand? Pic related. It's in my price range, and I just need a stand for routine adjustments and removing my wheels without laying the bike down. Does it do the trick, or should I wait until I can afford the more (twice as) expensive Park Tool stand?

Your Cities worst Transit choices or plans. -Toronto- Sheppard Subway: 5 stops built 14 planned (never to be built) We chose this over a subway to the Airport. Don't as why, Torontonians can be idiots sometimes.

So I finally got $200 for the bike I want, but now I can't seem to find anything that fits what I want in that budget. Hoping you guys will help me look. I'm looking for a single speed/fixed gear (flip flop preferred) with brake. $200 is as high as I can go, if you see one above that let me know if you think I could talk them down to $200. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/bia/

killing brake squeal

I usually frequent /o/, but since they're racist against bicycles I figure this is a better place. What is the secret to getting rim brakes to stop squealing? I have tried cleaning the rim surface and pads, replacing the pads, and realigning the aforementioned new pads.

How do non millionaires train to become commercial pilots? The lessons are so expensive it's unfair to us normal people and it's not economically viable. Oh yeah I'll pay $150,000 to earn $20k

>have broken wheels on bike >look high and low for wheels that fit your utilitarian usage case >finally find some, decide to order >available 10/23 >okay, not so bad >put in shopping cart >complete order >check order a bit later >estimated ship date January 13 Fuck... >tfw you resign to bike being out of commission until spring It's almost November. May as well just let the wheels come whenever and just start riding again when the snow melts, right?
