whats the point of a cycling jersey? I just bought pic related type clothes for much cheaper and its comfortable + stays dry and easy to wash

the only "cycling gear" ive ever really invested in is a good pair of cycling underwear with a pad. i went on a 120km bike ride and got bad saddle sores which prompted that purchase.

i used general tech-y shirts for a while, but switched to a dedicated cycling jersey because:

1. Longer in the back so it covers you totally when leaning forward
2. Pockets in the back -- I have a saddlebag too but sometimes it's nice to reach into my jersey pockets for food when I don't want to stop
3. Dat zipper in the front for temperature control, idk maybe those arent only on cycling jerseys

YMMV

This is my favourite jersey. It's a really heavy weave pure merino so it's a bit hot for middle of summer riding but it's perfect in spring/autumn or if i'm out early before it heats up.

Are there cycling jerseys and pants without a ton of trademarks in the design? I mean just a plain color shit. I dont feel in touch with any baike trademark. i do only casual rides. so it will be awfull to wear pro-trademarks tech clothing, i'm not a pro.

I know they exist. I think I saw some at REI, probably at Nashbar too. I like the designs from Danny Shane, but find it hard to justify cost.
Otherwise, a jersey with one brand name isn't the worst. As long as it isn't race kit, you're probably not going to feel like a billboard.

I'm talking about things like this (red , left), almost a solid color jersey.

Offtopic: i bought a men version of this yellow Castelli jacket (right) for 5 usd. Is that a good price for that? No waterproof, but windproof and reflective. It's just cold to ensure low sweating while riding in 3~7ºC and just warm to prevent getting a cold in the same conditions.

Aerotech, Voler, Cedar Cycling (merino!), Ibex, Road Holland (going out of business because life is unfair, but you can get really good merino stuff at half off while it lasts), and many many others.

Vulpine have also got a lot of stuff on sale atm (think they might have cashflow problems like road holland), halfprice merino jerseys on their website.
