Time for a new thread
Old thread's at bump limit. >>13144187
Once again, the required criteria:
>I can only run cars in the USA/Canada. If they've been exported from the USA/Canada, a report with their time here will be available. Not yet sure about imported cars.
>Cars need to be of 1981 model year or newer. That's when standardized VINs began. Anything older simply cannot be run for a report.
>There are never I(i), O(o), nor Q(q) in VINs. This is to avoid confusion with 1 and 0. So if you are unsure, it is always 1 or 0 (not the case for classic cars, but they cannot be run anyway).
>VINs must be 17 characters exactly. No more, no less.
>I am able to run VINs and plates. For plates, the plate and state are needed.

I own a 2006 Toyota Tacoma which is fully paid off. It currently has 66,000 miles since for the past 5 years that I've been it's second owner I've only commuted 10 min from my house with it.
I recently got hired for a really great job 1 hour away down in Manhattan. I am considering a commuter car because I do not want to destroy my low mileage Tacoma.
I am considering a Honda Civic SI as a commuter car... and I found a great private party deal on a 1 owner 2008 with 55,000 miles for $13,000
Should I buy the fun commuter Civic SI?
Use the cash as a down payment on a brand new Toyota Tacoma?
I'd like to have a new Tacoma for a bunch of reasons... but the thing is IT'S PAID OFF so why would I want to trade it in? a new Tacoma is $35,000
Should I trade in my current Toyota Tacoma for a new one? or get a commuter civic for $13,000 + insurance each month?

What's going on with my AC system?
Old compressor died after 14 years, clutch stopped engaging, pressure was basically the same on low/high sides, but I assume that was because it was a few months before I had gauges.
Installed a new(reman'd) compressor and receiver drier. Went to recharge and when the clutch engaged, the compressor sounded like its grinding to hell. Turned it off and looked at it again today, no noise when clutch is on. Hooked up gauges and pressure is nearly equal on both sides. Also looks like there is pag oil leaking from the compressor. I put leak dye in the service hose with the freon, but no dye shows up when I pass the oil leak with the UV light.
