I just bought an 03 GT 5 speed...109k miles, still with the factory clutch(supposedly). I didn't really notice this until after I bought it, go figure, it didn't seem to do this when I was just test driving it. But under a decent rev load the shifter area seems to be making this scratching/static-y noise that seems to get a little bit louder as I speed up and I can also feel it kind of in the shifts. It makes shifting a bit more resistant but it doesn't sound like gears are grinding like if the clutch wasn't disengaged properly.
Sorry for all of the other extra noise like my keys jangling and what not. You can hear it through all of the gears towards the middle to the end of the gear, and it sounds like a droning background static. A little bit after half way when I'm slowing down and shifting down it gets even worse but it doesn't sound like it in the video. I don't think it's coming from the short throw shifter that was already in the car, because it doesn't always do this. When I press the clutch all the way in, the sound stops, so it sounds like it might be coming from the engine?
Any ideas what this could be? Thanks.
