Hi /o/, I don't browse this board much, but I have a question related to the DMV, and I thought you guys might have a better idea of how this works than I do.
My parents told me it's time to renew my car registration, but didn't send me any papers, so I looked online. I entered my car's VIN and License in the California Online Vehicle Registration and it said "This number is invalid". I looked in my car for my registration and I actually couldn't find it (I know that's bad), but I did find multiple smog check documents, and the latest was in 9/2011. Is it time to renew, because I thought the smog had to be done within a certain # of days from registration? Or am I just dumb and all cars renew around the same time?
Pic related, it's my car.

Hi. I don't know if I'm allowed to ask for help here, but I'm desperate, so please bare with me. I'm also a complete retard when it comes to automotive stuff, so again, please bare with me.
I own a 2001 Ford Escort ZX2. A few days ago the horn got stuck. There's a contact switch which has foam padding that eventually wears out and prevents it from snapping back to place. I took this out and threw it away before doing any research (yes, I'm retarded). Turns out, I can't just replace that switch. I would have to buy an entire airbag assembly that's around $750. Can't do that. There's also state inspections coming up, so I need a horn that functions if I want to keep driving legally.
I was thinking of mounting a horn button on the dashboard. The problem is, I have absolutely no idea where the proper wires are located. Is there anyone with experience in electronics/wiring?
The Blackbird. Still looking for unique ideas!

Okay folks, here's my idea so far:
Name: The Blackbird
Engine: Either a 215ci Buick/Rover V8, 273ci Mopar V8, 230ci Chevrolet Inline 6
Transmission: 3-speed or 4-speed manual, or a push-button automatic
Suspension: Unknown. Most likely independent front live axle rear, however I'd need to figure out the suspension geometry...
So far, I can tell that I can probably stick a fuel cell behind the seats of the fuselage. The battery, however, is a different story. Might be fun to build a friction starter for the silly thing.
Still wanna contribute ideas to the Blackbird? Post 'em here!

Stirling Moss believes females cannot succeed in F1

"We've got some very strong and robust ladies, but, when your life is at risk, I think the strain of that in a competitive situation will tell when you're trying to win," Moss said.
"The mental stress I think would be pretty difficult for a lady to deal with in a practical fashion.
"I just don't think they have aptitude to win a Formula 1 race."
The last female driver to appear in F1 was Giovanna Amati, who failed to qualify a Brabham in three attempts in 1992.
There has not been a woman on the F1 world championship grid since Lella Lombardi's final grand prix start in the 1976 Austrian GP.
Susie Wolff is currently a development driver for the Williams team and has aspirations of becoming its official reserve.

It is stupid, and will cost two times what I think it will, but I want to swap a 350 V8 small block (1993) into a 1970 Volvo 164. The Volvo is an extremely clean roller, which can be had for $500. The V8 is going for 600. I could probably find a smaller, newer one from the local LKQ. HOWEVER.
I know next to nothing about swapping engines. No tools, no idea how to wire a fuse box or a PCM, no tools to fabricate mounts, not even an engine stand (can pick one up for 100). This is where I want to get started though. I am willing to read many books and spend lots of time. I have about $200 disposable every month. I think you can help walk me through this, /o/. I just need guidance. I'm a quick learner and good with my hands. What do, where start?
First order of business should be getting a jack, a stand, the car, and the engine for a combined $1280.
