I'm looking for a used car between the price ranges of 4000-6500. I've looked mostly at Mustang's off craigslist, but I'm open to any "sporty" car.
Tell me why it's not a bad idea to get an old car. I have heard they will need repair much sooner. is this going to be an issue for someone who makes under 800 a paycheck? (paid bi weekly)
In mustangs, what milage is "too much"? I've always heard over 100,000 is a bad idea, but what I hear is pretty biased.
For an 18 year old, what would the insurance be for a two door like this?
What's the best place to shop?

Sup, someone gave me two 12in audiobahn subs already in a sealed box. 500rms each. What's a good amp that's preferably under $100 I could get? I honestly just want something to make them work as I'm not big into cars.

I'm looking atty picking up a 1973 C3 Corvette with a 350 in it. Its in pretty good condition, garage Merritt, and the old guy selling it has to get rid of it because he is moving to a smaller house and had a bunch of neck surgery, so he can't drive it anymore. He hasn't sent me the VIN yet, but I was wondering what /o/ would do with this machine.
Oh, it's a manual, and offered it to me for $12,500.
Would you buy this, and what would you do with it?

I'm a 20 year old idiot, and I've become enamored with Subaru's. I've saved up enough, and gotten a loan from my bank, I have 7000 (give, or give) to spend, and I've been spending a lot of time of NASIOC looking at 02-07 Subaru WRX/STI's. I've found one (2004 wrx) close by that has little work done on it (performance mega rice shit, I'm in college and upkeep on a 400WHP engine is not in my budget, neither is what people are charging for that) and has been maintained/serviced regularly by all 3 (I know, fuck) drivers, and is currently sitting at 160xxx miles. I'm aware that there are issues that come with a car at the kind of mileage, that I am probably going to need to be very meticulous of every little issue that occurs lest I head to ringland, but is it worth it? Any Subaru (former, present) owners out there with mileage like that, long term ownership please give advice? I'm really in need of some help before I make this decision. Thanks in advance

So I have a group of myself and fellow engineering students going in on a 24 hours of Lemons team at CMP(Carolina Motorsports Park) in this coming September.
We have our car, a 1998 V-6 Bromaro, manual.
We have our theme: Emulated Redneck F1 tech.
Now, I would appreciate some brain storming on shit to do for our theme.
Right now planned we have an adjustable plywood wing as DRS, and a gas leafblower with the throttle cable running to a control in the car to be the Push to Pass system. We're hopeing for more ideas to add to our theme.

in other news, went to see a 93 with a replacement that has around 50k, and agreed to buy for $3000.
goods: new top, glass window, low mile engine
bads: rough idle (but pulls strong), when clutch is out in neutral there's a clanking from under the car, super high clutch pedal, with spongy feel, and a little bit of body work.
clutch just feels like it needs adjusting, and i'm sure the rough idle is just an adjustment somewhere, because it's smooth when on throttle.
the clutch thing worries me a little, throwout bearing maybe? or trans mounts?
either way, good price, solid body, low miles, new top. i'm happy.
