What is the most COMFORTABLE manual gear knob? I am asking because I find that my stock MKV Jetta makes my hand sore after maybe an hour of driving(pic related) I'm thinking of doing a switch so I want to know what is the most ergonomically shaped knob you guys have tried. I'm leaning towards installing one from a BMW because I have always enjoyed the feel and the shape of that wood, but I'm not sure it would transfer well when i need to shift into reverse(pushing down and left) My other question is, does anybody know of an aftermarket kit for the MKV that replaces the Pushing Down to go into reverse with a Pull Up style like the pontiacs use?(i.e sunfires etc...)

A Chevy 350 in a miata is possibly the best thing you can do to a mistake. A powerful american v8 in a light weight car its the perfect combination.

convince me not to buy a rusty ae86 would need a complete rebuild, and body work new interior, or no interior? 4age from the ground up eventually, as it runs now i would most likely have to sell my current car but that would give me alot of cash left over. or save a little more for 2 cars if its still for sale. pic somewhat related, its what i want it to end up like.

BMW vs Audi vs Mercedes on

bmw vs audi vs mercedes, between the 2000 and 2004 model years of the three "upscale" german brands, which one is the most forgiving on maintenance? i know Mercedes have pretty constant electrical gremlins but the engines and trannys are usually ok with oil and tranny fluid changes i know BMWs require pretty constant attention, even if the maintenance isn't difficult and the parts aren't that pricey I'm not sure about audi though. they actually seem to be pretty durable and able to take at least a little neglect in between servicing. this is something i would be DDing, and i want to avoid massively expensive repairs if i forget to maintenance for a little while, just in case i get super busy or am separated from my tools or WHATEVER >share your horror or success stories

Anyone still actually use a mobile CB radio? I have a group of friends that I play CB tag with pretty regularly. With a good set or rules, it can be pretty fun.

Which companies do you think engineer the most planned obsolescence into their work? The least? In case anyone doesn't know, planned obsolescence: >>a policy of planning or designing a product with a very limited useful life, so it will become obsolete, that is, unfashionable or no longer functional after a short period of time.

Finally got up to Grand Rapids, MI to grab the freightshaker. Had the plates, but no IFTA tags, so we could get the tractor and drive it back to Illinois, but still can't put freight on it. Going to spend the next few days getting the truck set up, and then we'll be off for a few months of training team style. A lot of this truck is weird to me, since it is so different in design compared to all of the peterbilts, kenworths, and internationals I've driven in the past, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Audio Thread

I am completely new to car audio. I have some money saved up and I plan to research for a few months and get a bunch of shit on Black Friday. I am looking for a well balanced system with some good thump. I want to replace the stock speakers with higher quality but same size/orientation and to get a sub or subs without going crazy. Not looking to shatter windows or set of alarms, just looking for a healthy, clean bass response. I listen to a wide variety of music, from Marty Robbins to RHCP to Dr. Dre to assorted EDMs. Where should I go and what should I read to find out what kind of setup I'm looking for and to get a well rounded knowledge on car audio in general? Where did you learn? What is your setup? What would you have done differently? What do you recommend for me? This is all going into a 98 Sierra extended cab. I'd like to keep my sub/subs behind or underneath the seats, tucked out of the way.

Hi /o/, quick question. I have a 4th gen firebird formula. It's an automatic with a shift kit and a performance CPU chip that changes the shift points to ”perform better”, among other things. When I really take off, (not flooring it, but really getting it going) around 4-6k rpm when it shifts I'm getting brief tire squeal, like a mini burnout..only at 50+ mph. Is this normal? This only started happening after I installed the shift kit, which makes it REALLY kick hard when shifting, especually out of low gears.

I have been using an Interstate Green Top MT-51 battery for pretty much ever in my 91 CRX. I was always steered towards Interstate batteries but I really don't know if they are really worth using. I live in Vegas so it gets pretty hot and usually the batteries last 2-3 years. Should I stick with Interstate or look elsewhere?
