Sup conefags. Looking to attend my first rallyx this weekend.
What's the general 'etiquette' so to speak? I understand you're 'working' the track part of the time you're there, but what do you actually do? Also, seeing as it's rallyx rather than autox, the guy running it has separated it into 2 groups, 2WD and 4WD. He has the tech/inspection/reg split as well. So, because it's 2 different groups do I have to be there for the 2WD runs and help or would it be acceptable to just be there for the 4WD runs?

I'm currently on the market for a new car and I saw this ad online. Figured fuck it, why not, I'm gonna go have a look at it and take it for a test run.. what do I have to lose?
I text him and ask if I can come over, he says sure but warns me that the brakes on the car need to be replaced. Okay, that's not a big deal. I pull up to his house (which is a fucking mansion btw) and there's literally a RIVER of fluid that is coming from the bottom of his car (later revealed to be gas) and there's a baseball sized dent on the front left of the car.
So I start talking to this asian guy who owns the SS and it turns out that he's just after finishing his major in business and he's leaving the country to go back to China at the end of the month. He said "I need to get rid of this, I'm leaving and I want a quick sale"
I asked him how he was getting back and forth to school while his cobalt was pretty much out of commission and he gestures to a 2012 Volkswagen CC (Highline v6 trim) sitting in front of his house and he tells me that his friend GAVE him the car before he left for China last month, and that he's selling that as well for "around 15k or as much as I can get for it". I'd buy that off of him if I could afford it, but I can't.
This guy is filthy fucking rich and knows nothing about vehicles. Is it worth it to talk him into practically giving me his Cobalt and then fixing it up myself? Should I just walk away and find something that'll take less work for me to get road worthy?
What do, /o/?

I got about 30 grand to spend on a car, I want something thats fast (anywhere above 250hp), something that I don't really have to maintenance myself too much, maximum 30k miles, also I want to eventually upgrade it, and it's gotta last me a while. My previous car was a 2010 Subaru Impreza Hatchback and I did a little bit of work to it and I loved it. I was thinking either a Subaru STI or a Nissan 370z but any suggestions would be appreciated.
