>What is the purpose of /ovg/?
This is intended as a secondary thread for discussing various automobiles in video games. We don't really organize events or anything, but you can if you want
>No really, what is the purpose?
To provide a safe haven for racing/auto vidya fans of all communities where they can discuss automotive vidya without any rules or regulations. Stick around, you might find out some crazy shit
>What happened to /rvg/?
People have assumed that /rvg/ was only about racing vidya and made non-racing vidya threads. This is to remedy this.
>Wat racan game is gud?
Richard Burns Rally, Forza Horizon, Forza 4, Gran Turismo 5, rFactor 1 & 2, SimRaceway, Race 07 (plus expansions), Race Pro, GTR2, GT Legends, Live For Speed, NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, Trackmania, and Lego Racers are all universally acclaimed. When in doubt, ask.
>Is iRacing worth it?
No. The only thing it does better than other sims is stat tracking. The physics are trash and most real drivers have abandoned it altogether because the dev team refuses to work with them anymore. In other words, the devs fucked it up beyond repair and can't figure out how to unfuck it.
>Anything else I should know?
If you have any questions not answered, just ask in the thread. Remember to make a new thread every 300 replies and link to the new thread in the previous one!

Looking around for my first car, and in my neighborhood, someone has offered me his '95 Volvo 850 Turbo Sedan for $1,000.
Test drove it, runs great. 140k miles, 2 previous owners, no accidents. Pretty clean.
Is there anything I should know about the 850 before I consider buying this or should I look for something else?

>"I want an autonomous car because I hate driving, I just want to get from point A to point B."
>"There should be autonomous cars so I can enjoy my motorcycle without having some redneck in a Ram Truck running over me."
>"Paint on the road will never be as good as a defensive computer system."
>"If you're having fun driving, then you're breaking the law when you're doing it."
>"I wonder if autonomous cars will give you manual control of it, if you so desire, to drive your way."
These are the quotes I've gathered from comments on a news article about Autonomous cars. They're terrible and make me mad.
Driving is dangerous, and I'm sure the idiots who say the things I listed are some of the ones that make it that way.
Autonomous cars will be boring as shit, and possibly rigged with government spying shit. Not even the liberals can argue against that anymore, the NSA is spying on Google. What's to say a Google car won't be rigged for that?
And what about my manual transmission? I have fun every time I drive it, don't even have to break the law. The simple management of the gears and RPM makes my shitty early 90s compact car fun to drive. I'm very certain autonomous cars wouldn't have traditional clutches.
So what's the fucking point of manual control then?
They're even talking about destroying thousands of jobs for autonomous truck convoys. I never in my fucking day thought that the average citizen's day in "iRobot" would come true. But jesus fuck it seems it will.
/o/, please fucking save me from the future.
