Heading to my little brother's house for Thanksgivikuh. My parents are flying down from Nome, and it'll be the second time I've seen them in 2 years, so that'll be nice.
It's getting to be the slow season for flatbed with agricultural and construction freight coming to a trickle. Other than emergency salt runs, it'll be slim pickings until the thaw. Thankfully, it's roofing season, so I see a lot of shingles in my future. Might end up hopping on a UPS contract pulling wiggle wagons for a while if they pull their heads out of their collective anus and offer a decent rate.
Planning on spending a week cooling my heels and getting fat on stick house food and booze for the winter. Haven't really stopped pushing freight since I ditched the trainee, and thankfully, I've made up for the financial losses he caused and thensome.
Ask a truck driver anything.

Does anyone else completely hate people who text and drive?
ITT: Distracted Driver encounters
>Driving home one day, late afternoon
>Get off the freeway, hit the pub streets
>See some bitch in a 2012 Mercedes S550
>Left hand, holding hookah pen, right hand hold iPhone while texting some one
>(My car has a PA system)
> On the PA "Attention Ma'm, Could you please pay attention, You're driving"
>Bitch stops turns in the middle of the intersection
>Ford F-350 rear ends her (15-20mph)
>Bitch and 350 dude pulled over
>Take off; Acted like nothing happened

>go to a psychologist to make a test of mental capability/fitness (which costs 32 dollars)
>go to a doctor to make a test of physical fitness, specially vision (which costs 28 dollars)
>take the documents you got with the psychologist, the doctor and at the government agency to the driving school

>apply to a practical driving test
>get a temporary license valid for 1 year, period in which you can't break any rules/laws
>if you got everything right up to this point, get your driving license
Jesus Christ, what a painful process. How is the process to get a driving license in your country?

Back in late August I got a new 2013 Acura Ilx. Paid 32k for it, with nav and some other packages boosting the price. I'd been thinking about it for almost half a year before the purchase, as it was my first car. My budget was just at around the price I paid, and I was just short of getting low end (new) luxury cars like an a4 or bmw 3 series. I went in with the mentality of never considering a used car, even a very nice used a4 2011 or 2012.
One of my other options was a beefed up camaro. Did I make the right choice? All in all, I wanted something classy. The ilx interior is absolute shit, and being in a 2011 audi a4 just days ago, I'm put to shame. Black exterior and interior with about 1850 miles on the car currently.

>What is the purpose of /ovg/?
This is intended as a secondary thread for discussing various automobiles in video games. We don't really organize events or anything, but you can if you want
>No really, what is the purpose?
To provide a safe haven for racing/auto vidya fans of all communities where they can discuss automotive vidya without any rules or regulations. Stick around, you might find out some crazy shit
>What happened to /rvg/?
People have assumed that /rvg/ was only about racing vidya and made non-racing vidya threads. This is to remedy this.
>Wat racan game is gud?
Forza 4, Forza Horizon, Gran Turismo 5, GT Legends, GTR2, Lego Racers, Live For Speed, NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, Race 07 (plus expansions), Race Pro, rFactor 1 & 2, Richard Burns Rally, SimRaceway and Trackmania are all universally acclaimed. When in doubt, ask.
>Is iRacing worth it?
No. The only thing it does better than other sims is stat tracking. The physics are trash and most real drivers have abandoned it altogether because the dev team refuses to work with them anymore. In other words, the devs fucked it up beyond repair and can't figure out how to unfuck it.
>Anything else I should know?
