My old teacher will sell me his 2005 GS500 for $1,300. $500 down and then $150 payments til it's payed off.
-Great mechanically. However it has a gasket leak and does leak a little oil. He says he put's in an 1/8 quart every 3 weeks.
-I'm a new rider, won't feel as bad if I drop it.
-It had been downed, he hit a rock. He didn't report it so title is clean. (CHP said he didn't have to report it to insurance since he never hit anyone)
-Exhaust is scuffed, no problems.
-Handlebar was bent, he had a shop heat and bend it back.
-Small cover on the side of the engine is scuffed, seems like an easy replace. He said it's a cover to give access to the crank? See pics.
-Front and right side fairing are cracked, he took them all off and replaced it with a headlight. (I kinda like the look)
What do you guys think? Pics related.

How much is the minimum one should spend on a motorcycle helmet? And how much did you spend on your helmet?
I know some of you will probably say "hurrrr it's your head you're protecting spend as much as you can possibly afford" but that's stupid because anyone who can afford to buy a motorcycle can afford to save up $50 per paycheck for a few months and buy some top-end $600 racing helmet, when other less expensive ones would do just fine for street riding. I'm thinking about spendng ~$200 - $250, is that sufficent?
Also does anyone have any advice for picking out a comfortable helmet, or what to look for? I'm afraid of buying one that's nice and cozy for 5 minutes in the shop, then discovering it has some feature that's uncomfortable or annoying after an hour of riding. And in case it matters, I want a full-face helmet.
BUY KAWAII NEVER LOOK BACK

Yesterday, I bought this fine machine: 1993 Toyota Camry V6 LE wagon. 3VZ-FE, four-speed automatic, 170,000 miles or so. Runs good, shifts well, clean chassis, exterior maybe 6/10, interior 3/10, needs an axle. Figure $400 and it'll be good to go.
Paid $900. I dun gud, /o/?
