Kit Lenses- Underrated?

13 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Other than their relative slowness, what exactly makes your kit lens 'bad' or inferior to higher cost prime lenses? f3.5-5.6 is somewhat limiting in regards to >muh bokeh and night shooting, but other than that..? canon and nikon's offerings are sharp from wide open to f12-ish when printing 8x10. chromatic aberrations, vignetting and distortion is pretty mild through the entire 18-55mm and trivial to correct in raw processing. I own fast 24, 35, and 50mm primes and haven't noticed any differences in sharpness looking at prints and on-screen unless zoomed to 1:1. what exactly is the problem with the image quality of kit lenses, then?

Lately I've been getting my inspiration from cemetery statues, so lately my runs have been in cemeteries trying to capture statues at different angles, attempting to capture somethings rather unique qualities. Dump your cemetery-related images here. I'll be dumping mine as well. (Critiques welcomed)

Coney Island Shoot

Ok /p/ I'm gonna try something a little different. I just finished editing my first shoot in quite a while, so I'm looking for feedback. To help facilitate some actual critique, I wrote out a list of specific questions I was looking to get feedback on. Of course you can feel free to ignore them and just tell me I'm shit. 1. Are the photos good? (qualify your answer) 2. Are they interesting? 3. Do the artifacts and effects from the prism add or detract from images? 4. Does the noise add or detract from the image? 5. Does the processing fit the images? 6. Does the set feel consistent? 7. What is your favorite/least favorite image from the set, and why? [EXIF data available. Is there any rule for panorama photography? Composition, distortion, consistency, all seem more challenging than regular photography. Or is it just that I'm doing it wrong? [EXIF data available.
