What's the best software for editing raw photos?

Compact or DSLR

3 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hello, I don't normally post on /p/ so go easy... I want to get a new camera, I have had Analog SLRs in the past (Nikon F80) and currently have a shitty compact that is full of fluff and pretty much useless for my needs. I am WAY out of the loop for current cameras and haven't owned a DSLR before. My budget is pretty flexible but of course I don't want to spend more than I need to. Really as a max, I would probably say £1000 but could be persuaded to go higher but would really like to spend HALF of that if I can get away with it... Basically I am looking for either a DSLR or a new high end compact. I work as an Airline Pilot and this presents a few challenges for photos. I need something I can force to focus manually or at least ignore short range objects (rather than having photos focused on the cockpit window). It also has to work in low light levels, I want to photograph things like cities at night and IF POSSIBLY very low light things like the Aurora Borealis (I am based in Scotland and it is visible occasionally at this time of year, would be great to snap a photo of it to show off on Facebook). ...

I'm trying to recreate the look of the fikse wheel specifically on the lip how there are slivers of pink and polished highlights with some black on it. I'm working with a canon T2i, yongnuo speedlite a very janky studio setup composed of black clothes, white posterboard, printer paper and a red piece of plastic to get the color in the reflection. what am I doing wrong?

Kept seeing this line on all of my photos so I opened it up and looked at the sensor. You can see the line on the sensor, maybe a tiny thread or something... It's not a scratch because it has moved but I cannot remove it with air or a microfiber cloth... I can't move it at all actually. Is there a chance it's on the inside of the sensor? Sup /p/, So I'm currently planning on launching a weather balloon with a payload filled with cameras taking video and stills (two horizontal, one up, one down), which would go up to ~105k feet then drop. I'm currently having trouble settling on the right cams for the task. Any suggestions? [EXIF data available. I just started learning photography through the internet (especially youtube). There were many great vids but most of them don't explain everything about photography in debth.Though I recently came across Fro Knows Beginner Guide but its for 70 bucks and I can't find the torrent anywhere (If u can find one please link it). Anyway my point being that is there a great free photography learning guide for beginners? [EXIF data available. Upgrade from Canon G10

4 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Own a Canon G10 for several years. It never amazed me though. Just small enough and the battery lasted a good long time. Considering getting something better. ~$600 (even used offers if the model is generally good). Preferably with its' own lens good enough for most universal use in normal and low light. Never had a DSLR or mirrorless, etc so availability of lenses or somesuch is not a priority.

Improper Store Care of Cameras

So I was at Walmart shopping in the electronics department, and walked by this sad display of cameras. About 3/4 of them were missing their lens, leaving their sensors fully exposed. Many sensors had clear finger smudges or scratches on them, it was fucking cringeworthy. How could stores let this happen? Why were so many missing lenses? Do people really just steal the lenses off the display maybe? They're all going to be kit lenses for Christ sake. [EXIF data available. How do you make a Flickr gallery of your own photos? I was thinking of trying out Fro Knows Photo's rapid fire critique, and it tells me I have to make a Flickr gallery. But Flickr doesn't allow you to make a gallery of your own photos. So what do I do?
