Introvert Photographer

I finally bought my first DSLR last April. Photography became my new hobby and I learned much already about using the camera and retouching the photos. But I feel so fucking uncomfortable when I'm in public and bust out my D5100 with a 300mm lens. Once I put my tripod on the balcony and tried to snap some nice pics of my surroundings....until I noticed that some neighbours on another balcony gave me the "pervert child molester" look. The only time when I felt OK in public was at the Zoo. You only sticked out if you DIDN'T take pictures. How do you guys deal with staring people? I'm afraid someone will come up and be all "DUDE DID YOU JUST TAKE A PICTURE OF MY GIRLFRIEND'S ASS??"

Film Processing

I was just given a medium format camera as a gift and I'm anxious to try it out. The only thing is I haven't developed film since I learned to do it in school over 10 years ago, I only learned how to do black and white, and I don't have any of the materials to do it myself. I could always buy the materials to process black and white negatives, but I also have nowhere to put a darkroom and I don't currently have the funds for a good negative scanner, though this could be an option down the road. I also want to do color photography and have no idea how that's processed or what materials I would need to buy. Basically it looks like my best option is to outsource the processing. I figure I can't just go down to the local pharmacy and drop off a roll of obscure 120 film, so what's the best way to do this? I'm pretty much at a loss on how to deal with film since I haven't used it since school when I had full access to a darkroom. [EXIF data available. Shot this a while back, just found it on my camera recently, I kind of like it but I can admit that whatever is good about it was a complete accident because I'm not that good with cameras, I was wondering what you guys think and if you have any pointers on how to reproduce this type of photograph in the future. I am waaay too poor to get myself a good DSLR but a really nice relative gave me their old Canon 1100 D free, they're just happy to see me use it. I might be able to afford a new lens but not a new body so I'm wondering how much of a difference would a really fancy lens make? Is the body of an 1100 D still good enough? Pic related, it was taken with said camera. Also sorry if silly question, I'm new to cameras.

Might finally have a studio space soon. They're giving me trouble for shooting live insects so still a bit up in the air. I also finally have more mantises being raised/enroute. Lining up a LA and Death Valley trip as well. More random beach stuff in the mean time. [EXIF data available. Hey /p/! I am interested in getting myself a mirrorless camera and I have interest in video. I travel a lot and can be in some nasty environments so weather sealing is a plus. This would be a camera that I pretty much carry everywhere and would be my only real camera. I am not a professional but I appreciate quality. My top contenders right now, in order, are Olympus OMD Em5 Mark II Sony Alpha a6000 Do you guys have a preference? Anything else youd suggest? [EXIF data available. Is the 6D really that garbage?

33 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Time to jump into the full frame world. Is the 6D really as terrible as everyone says? Every single review ive read is pushing me in the nikon direction (im a canon fanboy) I'm coming from a canon 7D and AF and IQ is important to me. I guess i don't mind changing systems, i only have two lenses anyway (50mm and 70-200) What to do?

My sister is getting married and she wants me to photograph the wedding. I told her "no, get a pro, these are images you'll want to keep your entire life", but she insisted and said that she doesn't want to spend money and she's perfectly happy that the results won't be professional. So this will be the first time shooting a wedding, and I have essentially no clue what to do. Could someone who has a bit of experience with this kind of stuff fill me in on at least the most rudimentary and important aspects of a shot of this sort, so I can do my best and maybe get something usable out of it? Photographer from Europe here. I will be Porto, Portugal next week for vacation. I wanted to take some nudes of beautiful women there but Model Mayhem does not have good choices. So I wanted to go with prostitutes. Does anyone have some advice on how to do approach this? Where to find some addresses? I think I should aim at girls that work privately and not in a brothel. Btw, I will be staying in a hotel. [EXIF data available. /p/ in a nutshell.

No, not all of you, but the majority. And that really sucks, how anally retentively do you hold on to a depressed, deformed view of the world trapped in your little misanthropic selves, wishing it would all just be over so you could be with god like you believe you deserve to be. GET YOUR HEADS OUT YOUR ARSES AND JUST BASK IN REALITY. TAKE OFF THE FUCKING GOGGLES. I'll tell you what to do, go to anywhere full of people and just sit, watch and listen. You will learn we are all just part of this crazy dream, most of us are on the same page. Stop trying to be the book cover when you just aren't. You are just another page in the big book of reality. I've never seen such a good example of how stuck some peoples heads are up their own arses as I have the main feature content of the pics uploaded to /p/ Which is why I was motivated to write this post. It is literally the sadest thing i've seen on this website. You guys need help, you need the WAKE THE FUCK UP. [EXIF data available. The images are mostly panoramic shots of trees, sky, lakes, deserts and blue water in supersaturated colors. Generally speaking, his buyers are not people who acquire the art of Andreas Gursky and Cindy Sherman. I don't know if i want to slap him or buy him a pint A fool and their money....

Digital vs. 35mm

33 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I'm looking to get into photography as a hobby and artistic outlet. But I don't have a lot of money to afford digital right now. So I'm looking at getting a used Pentax k1000 with a few lens from an uncle for $50. Or I could try snapping up a Nikon D3000 for about $150-200. So the initial investment of 35mm would be more affordable, but I imagine development costs would quickly outweigh the initial cost of the Nikon. What are the merits of developing and printing on your own with 35mm vs. printing with digital? Is darkroom satisfying at all? I could potentially see myself enjoying creating a print with my own hands, but since I'm a noob, I'm not sure. Would there be merit in dealing with the hassle over digital? Should I save up for the digital, or go with what I can afford right away?
