What camera is good for taking glamour shots of my imaginary girlfriend? Also is there a way to tell what lenses are weather resistant? Seems like the few camera bodies that are labeled as weather resistant usually come with weather resistant lenses but usually they range between mediocre and trash.

Just upgraded to a 6D from my T2i. I feel like I just wasted $1200 because I only use my camera for special events and vacations, both of which are pretty rare occurrences. Walking around the block taking pictures of random things get boring pretty quickly. What can I regularly take pictures of so I don't feel like I just wasted a bunch of money? [EXIF data available. Are macbooks good for editing? It seems they have high quality screens which would help out a lot. Currently I'm using a lenovo with good hardware but shitty screen so I'm considering selling it and putting the money towards a macbook. Anyone have experience editing on a mac?

Just got a Helios 44-2

Here's some test shots while I'm killing time at work. Camera: Canon 70D All shots were at maximum aperture (f/2) for two reasons, one the aperture ring is a little out of alignment so it's a bitch to turn (which makes me happy because that let me get it for $6), and two, I didn't get this lens to ever shoot at anything other than f/2). I don't have the right kind of backgrounds to get good swirly bokeh, but for what I paid for this lens, I'm really happy with what I'm seeing so far. So yeah, umm, here's samples for people who want to see them/use this thread to talk about old cheap lenses I guess. [EXIF data available. Hello fellas, amateur/enthusiasts here. Convince me to not spend a crapload of money on pic related. I use two lenses together, I fit them with pieces of plaster on my xperia Z's camera since the lenses i have are too small for my canon to use together with. Pic related: that's my eye. Lighting Setup Thread

Hey guys, haven't posted in some time now, but I'll be shooting a local band this week and I know what style I'm looking for, but I have hardly touched the studio before and I'm a bit troubled about my setup. I'm striving for the look of pic related. From the shadows and catchlights I guess this is a 2 light setup, using umbrellas, but I'm still not exactly sure. Also, regarding the background, how does one get such a solid color look? Is it the lighting or the material itself? Finally, I don't know if I can get a backdrop of any funky colors just yet, would overlaying a color layer on Photoshop yield the same results? Thanks in advance! [EXIF data available. Is the Sony a7 series a viable option for shooting professionally? The only downside I can think of is the constant f/4 zooms.. Any reason why one should stick with Canon or Nikon? Application Photo

Hey, /p/. I haven't been here in a few years and in that time I haven't taken many photos either except for street photography or any photography that doesn't require a setup / flash, really. Tomorrow I am supposed to take a few photos of a friend for an job application. I have access to the following equipment: >Canon 400D >Canon EFS 60mm 1:2,8 >Fuji X100 >Vivitar 3500 >a white wall How can I use this to effectively take an ok photo? I was thinking about using the Canon + Flash combo the following way: Model in front of wall, natural light from window, flash hitting ceiling. Or I just go fuck it and use natural light only with the Fuji X100 outside. What would you suggest somebody who has absolutely no idea about studio photography? [EXIF data available. Hello /p/ I took the opportunity to photograph some northern lights yesterday and after taking this picture i noticed the spiral 'formation' a bit to the left, centered on the picture. Does anyone know if this is dirt on the lence or is this one of those phenomenons that nobody seem to be able to explain?
