I have this idea to start my own business selling aerial photography maps.
I would basically buy a RC plane, fit it with an autopilot system with a point and shoot camera pointing down (maybe one with a gps).
After that is all ready to go, set routes in the autopilot and set it off into the sky to take its photos. The camera will most likely be on a time lapse mode (CHDK does this).
After the flight stitch all the images into a map, there is software that does this.
I guesstimate, that all the plane and camera gear will cost me $1-1.5k AUD.
Only thing that is going to be a problem is CASA (AU version of the FAA) and their licensing permit scheme. I still have to look into the costs of this.
So that's the plan, what do you guys think?
