Starwars Cinematography

Jesus watching this movie was a struggle. Who the fuck thought that switching between mega soft vintage glass on film and pin sharp CGI renders for closeup dialogue scenes was a good idea? Who thought that shooting wide open bokeh shots in the forest through anamorphic glass for the whole fucking movie was a good idea? Who thought that using a scallop shaped aperture for the 4 stopped down shots in the whole film was a good idea? Who thought that getting a 12 year old to pull focus on all these wide open shots was a good idea? >i just wanted our blatantly stylised technical choices to dominate the visual experience, and distract the viewer from the fact that they were simply watching every single shitty Star Wars cliche being vomited back at them with a handful of fresh actors

Ive decided to throw up some more, the colours look straight up wrong on my laptop so im using photoshops auto colour feature as a bit of a temporary crutch. They seem ok on my phone now. New thread cos the last is about to 300 I woke up before sunrise to view a hindu pilgrimage and get out of the ridiculous contrast of the daylight. Some of the content aware fill needs doing properly, but a combination of weak laptop and touchpad just sucks. [EXIF data available. Serious question; Why would anyone bother with digital crop sensor cameras when fool-frame is as accessible and as affordable as ever (hint: important words for you medium and large format dorks)? Don't say "I can afford the lenses!". There are fool-frame bodies that natively support crop lenses and if not, then you can get a cheap extension tube to mount it on there anyway.

Aurora Borealis

Hey /p/ Managed to witness and capture the Aurora Borealis on Christmas morning. I'm a very amateur photographer and did my best to capture the lights but they were very faint and the light pollution was pretty crippling (I was in the middle of Reykjavik). How can I enhance the photos I did capture? TL;DR How do I improve these pictures of the Northern Lights? Retaking the pictures on another date isn't an option. Cheers!

Hey /p/, I got a question. What kind of cameras do professionals use to shoot photos? DSLR, point-and-shoot, or mirrorless?

Ok /p/ I need a new monitor. Right now I'm using a total piece of shit Acer with like 50% colors a 960x720p resolution. It looks like shit. I hate it. Can anyone recommend a monitor that will be great for editing photos for under $400 (ish)? I do zero gaming so refresh rate doesn't matter. [EXIF data available. Anyone else feeling sad over the loss of film not only as a photographer but also as someone who looks at photographs? I feel it made the world look more sterile. Photographs in magazines, on the internet, movies... almost all digital nowadays. Artists may be able to make digital look really good with editing but most people don't bother. With film they still made pleasing images that I might enjoy looking at. Film photographs have a painting like quality to me. They make an emotional impression on me because of the light and shadows and colors and tones. Digital only makes an impression on me because of the content in an image. Film shows while digital describes. These are my feelings. Anyone can relate?

Mine is the nikkor MF 35-70mm. It came with a working nikon F3 that I got for free. I mounted it on a D7000 and the image sucks. My 35mm 1.8g rapes it in IQ.
