Repair edition. Anyone got any good resources for repairs? My google-fu is failing me. My Ricoh 500G received a minor knock today and now the meter only works half of the time. It's not the batteries.

Do macro lenses make images look flat? I want to buy lenses that have a lot of pop (I do not know the technical term but I know people refer to it as a sort of 3d effect) What about if you use the macro lenses in a non macro focus range? I am looking at the Nikon AF-D 60mm Micro to purchase as my standard lens, I just want to purchase primes that have the highest amount of this pop/3d effect/whatever its called (micro contrast?) I have read that the 60mm micro is an amazing lens but I have also read that macro lenses in general have a tendency to make images look flat which is opposite of what I want. Thanks

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/cinestill-medium-large-format-film#/ This is really exciting. Cinestill has struck a deal with Kodak to let them spool Vision3 film in medium format rolls and sheets. If the campaign reaches 190k in 12 hours, 50D will be available from the very beginning. This is a big day for medium format film.

Hi /p/ this is my first time here. I'm looking to print and frame some artwork I've found online -- maybe a half dozen. What would be the cheapest way to get that done? Get the print done locally or online? And, can someone recommend a site or place for that? Thanks, hope this is relevant to this board

I had the opportunity to get two old lenses, a 50mm 1.4 Zeiss planar and a 35mm 1.4 distagon, I mostly do videos but I also like to fuck around with photos, mostly street photography kind of stuff Do you have any good tips to not get out of focus images all the time when you want to stay below f5.6 and you're shooting strangers that may not be very happy about your hobby? Are experienced photographers and focus pullers from the past able to detect the right distance/position "instinctively" without even looking at the viewfinder? I know it's written on the fucking ring but it seems very difficult to do it using only my eyes. I wonder if there are laser systems that tell you the right distance lol. I suppose the average reply will be "get gud" but maybe there is something helpful that I don't know.

Getting a camera Stats vs Feel

8 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hello /p/ Been a long time fan of photography and have recently decided that it's time to start shooting with something other than my iPhone. Been researching furiously and (for my budget ~1300 CAD) I have zeroed in on two cameras. The Sony a6300 and the Canon 70d Now every benchmark, user review, pro review, youtube video, and flickr account would have me believe that the Sony A6300 (upgrade from the a6000) would undoubtedly beat the canon 70d in almost every aspect of photography (minus dual pixel but while still boasting a better AF speed) SO, I go into the store today to finally get my hands on the 70d and Sony and I am incredibly dissapointed with what I held in my hands. The sony felt so digital, so clunky, nothing felt organic. It honestly felt like a point and shoot with beefed up specs. What are your thoughts on STATS vs FEEL of a camera. Have any of you chosen an SLR over mirrorless soley on this basis? Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say. -newb [EXIF data available. Where's the innovation in camera forms? There's no more film, so why the are all new cameras STILL the same shape?
