How sturdy are Manfrotto tripods, especially in the more expensive models?

Hi /p/ Not sure if any fucks will be given, but I would like some help and opinions. I know nearly nothing about photography. I have no photographic schooling and just about know how to turn on my camera. I made my photography channel just so I could upload pictures there where people can enjoy them. Haven’t been lurking for long now and very recently bought myself T3i and the 50mm macro lens. Fresh out of high school and looking for job, so nearly no budget at all. I really want to take more shots of bugs and other small objects. What is the most efficient way to improve photography skills? Do I need thing like Photoshop to obtain better results? What are your thought on my pictures? FaceBook /De.Basler.Photography

Processing

So, I'm moving into being serious about my photography work and have begun to set up my home station for processing all of my photos. I currently have a very powerful home desktop that I do all of my work on, mostly using Lightroom. I'm looking for advice for settings, workflow, backing up, etc. For instance, I'll have a server set up in home for housing all of my shoots. Should I dump my shoots on there and have Lightroom read the files over my network or should I have them housed on my main PC until I'm done editing them, then port them all over to the server for storage? Hey, /p/ So I like to mae my rounds to all the thrift stores in the area to see what kind of goodies I can find.... Picked up this lens for $15 dollars, with the leather case you see. The case says Rollei, and there were 2 other Rollei lenses that were in the shop with it, but I picked this one up since it said it was voigtlander. (Was that stupid?) Anyway, as far as I can tell it has a Rollei SLR mount. I currently shoot Nikon digital, and I have a Minolta film set up. I love to collect camera gear, but is it worth my time to try to find a camera that this lens will fit? Should I just sell the lens and forget about it? [EXIF data available. fully mechanical camera?

I'm looking for a really good fully mechanical camera. I have a light meter, but I want to get better at estimating exposure. I have access to a bunch of old olympus om lenses and a bunch of minolta manual focus lenses. Though I'm looking for any brand, to be honest. I can adapt lenses, or so i hear from lurking here a bit. I'd like to find a really nice Medium format camera and a really nice 35mm camera. Pic related

What are some workflow related ideas, that /p/ recommends. I am learning more of lightroom4 ( a great program) but I seem to have lost some raw files after just importing as a dng. So what does /p/ do? Copy raw files, then import or just import as DNG. DNG vs Raw advantages. My apologies if this has been covered before. Pic: a snapshit experimenting with leading lines. My stepdad gave me this pentax MX with an old vivitar 100-300 f5. He said he had a few other lens' floating around but misplaced them. Is this worth shooting with? I know vivitar sucks balls these days but did they make decent glass back then? [EXIF data available. One of the most revealing documentaries I have watched in a long time. I would say for anyone who is tired of the bullshit, and needs that push out the door towards freedom; hopefully, this might give you a sense of what it is we as a species are becoming.
