data mining EXIF

A few days ago anon mentioned ExposurePlot (a freeware software - donations accepted) that plots statistics from your EXIF metadata: - focal length - iso - aperture - shutter speed My results suggest that a 24mm-equiv fast lens would be appropriate for the majority of how I use my compact camera.

I'm not a photographer, but I got a Lumix LX5 on eBay a while back and I've really liked messing around with the manual settings, it's got me wondering about what camera I'd get next. I see you get "what camera should I buy" threads pretty often so instead I'm wondering, how do you know what camera you want? I'm probably just after greater control over the focus and less fuzzy pictures when it's darker. It'd be nice to have a viewfinder too. Do I want to look for something with a better lens and a larger sensor? [EXIF data available. 1100D?

Jessops have closed recently and there doing big sales at the minute. The canon 1100D is down to £260 with lens. I'm new to photography but I already have two canon lenses that my dad had. Would the Canon 1100D be worth the purchase or is there any other good cheap DSLR's? (Only beginner so don't want to get really expensive one)

I love my GND filter but I've been wondering what's the best way to correct the dark gradient in parts where you don't wish to have it? IE. the peaks of the skyscrapers in this one. If someone says HDR I will punch them over the internet.

I know there's already a c&c thread but I just wanted to post a few photos, I'd appreciate any criticism and advice, I know my photos aren't great, cheers. Been taking photos for a few months and done a little post processing. Also, if anyone has any links or tips that could help me with curves and processing I'd appreciate it. I have photoshop but mainly use it for retouching and colors, and lighting. Thanks /p/. (This is one of my favorites.) [EXIF data available. I am currently trying to decide on a wide zoom for FX and have a major concern- shaky ass hands. It isn't a technique issue for me, but a problem I have been dealing with since childhood. Until now I have dealt with this by either upping my ISO or apeture, but there are plenty of situations where this is not what I want to do. I also shoot at least 3 of the same shot to make sure one is sharp, which is a major hassle to sort though later and eats up my memory card. My question is how effective is Nikon's VR for this and would it be worth it for me to get a slower lens with VR over a faster lens without it. I have heard mixed opinions elsewhere and want the straight shit from /p/.
